Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Lovelace.

Hi Derek, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today. 
For over a decade, I’ve always posted pictures of my lunch from KC Black Owned Restaurants to my personal social media accounts to show my appreciation. The owners would message me and tell me that it leads them to more customers. I also noticed that the views of my food content SKY ROCKETED. I decided to start a Platform and a Podcast. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has NOT been smooth, but that makes it more exciting and fun! For 2 years, I was paying other KC Black Platforms to collaborate on marketing, and slowly, we all grew apart! Mainly because I was buying huge amounts of their KC marketing slots, which gave my platform way too much online territory for the other KC Platforms to handle. Power and Ego is why they couldn’t handle me, so I decided to make our own marketing and named it KC Discover Black Owned Businesses. We use the Blaze Moving Podcast to express ourselves on current topics.

We promote Black Owned Businesses in KCMO and KCK. We specialize in online marketing using social media. We are known for our amazing KC food recommendations on our Facebook and Instagram. We do lots of work with the Blaze Moving Political Podcast on YouTube. We advocate for Civil Rights, and we have a Mental Health Project that you can donate to. It is: FunnyComments.org
