Inspiring Conversations with Crystal Rodenbaugh of Tenfold Counseling Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Rodenbaugh.

Hi Crystal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I knew for quite some time that I really valued doing life alongside of people and felt like if I got to do some semblance of that, I would be living the dream. That looked a little different based on which season of life I was in, but it eventually landed me into starting my own private counseling practice. The concept of Tenfold Counseling came from the notion that when you invest in yourself, the impact that it will have on your life and even the people around you would be ten-fold. I want our counseling practice to be known in the community as a place to belong and to be seen and known. I believe so much healing and life change can take place with that as the backdrop and know wholeheartedly that my team delivers that on a daily basis with our clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say for the most part that we have experienced great growth over time, but I would be amiss not to acknowledge that there have been growing pains and other challenges along the way. It is hard and scary sometimes to take risks but as the saying goes, without risk there isn’t reward and I would have to agree. Not every risk played out and there were definite steps backward at points but finding the right people to work alongside of me has been a tremendous asset. We don’t always get it right, but I’m determined to keep moving forward and keep showing up for our people.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Tenfold Counseling Group?
We are a centrally located private counseling practice in downtown Kansas City. We want to be available to those who live and work downtown so that it is convenient and easy to pop over for an appointment before, during, and after working hours. Since there are seven of us on the team, we do see a variety of clients coping with the challenges of anxiety, depression, grief, trauma recovery, relational conflict, and life transitions. There are a number of different treatment modalities that we utilize, but really we want people to know that they have a safe place to go to talk through whatever it is that they are going through. We have the privilege of seeing people for who they are and what they can overcome and that is truly empowering for us and for them.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I would say the biggest lesson I’ve learned is protecting the culture of Tenfold. I have a vision and a feel for what I want the client experience to be when they seek out services and if there is someone on the team who doesn’t match that or cannot see that, I think that creates a disservice to our brand and our future growth. It’s not just about finding any counselor out there, because there are a lot of great ones, but it is more about for our team to find the right ones that exude genuineness, integrity, compassion, wisdom, and yet still find ways to incorporate humor and reflect relatability.
