Inspiring Conversations with Catie of Mae Day Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catie.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got my training 15 years ago at Paul Mitchell the School, after obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Theater and Film (Hair and makeup emphasis) from KU in 2007. After working at a salon right after Cosmetology school, I returned to be an Educator for 3 years. In 2016 I missed working behind the chair and opened my own salon suite and have been my own business owner for almost 9 years, currently at Sola Salons. My services include blonding, color, short and long haircuts for all genders, up styling, and volunteering for a local children’s youth theater doing hair, makeup, specialty makeup, and wigs backstage.
I love my two children, husband, and dog and enjoy family time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not always a smooth road. Hiccups and delays in licensing, Covid, and personal growth have been some struggles along the way.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I like to think I’m known for being a warm listener with lots of compassion with every one of my guests. I provide music, television, or a quiet environment with a private large suite. I love and support Paul Mitchell products, as well as Joico.
Mae Day Studio is a mostly full service salon that provides cut, color, occasion styling, and waxing services.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I currently work part-time to balance my personal life and family activities with my 10 and 13 year old.
