Hi Cari, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my career as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, where I developed a strong foundation in helping others improve their quality of life. As changes in the healthcare industry shifted my path, I transitioned into working alongside my husband in our real estate business, Coldwell Banker Executive Realty in Hays. During this time, I discovered a growing passion for nutrition and wellness, which inspired me to open a HOTWORX fitness studio in 2021. Building on my entrepreneurial experience, I later embraced a new opportunity to purchase a local tanning salon that had been closed for over a year. Stepping into an entirely new industry was both challenging and rewarding, and I am proud of the progress and success I’ve achieved in revitalizing the business.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any entrepreneurial endeavor, the journey has not been without its challenges. Entering new industries required a significant investment of time and effort to develop the knowledge and confidence needed to operate successfully. One of the most complex aspects was selecting and implementing a point-of-sale system that aligned with my vision of modernizing the business. I was committed to bringing the salon up to current standards by integrating electronic waivers, as well as streamlined booking and scheduling capabilities. When I was unable to find a system that fully met these needs, I took the initiative to design and build a customized solution using the Square platform. This process was both demanding and rewarding, ultimately allowing me to create an efficient and user-friendly experience for both clients and staff.
As you know, we’re big fans of Bronze on the Bricks Tanning and Boutique. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are proud to be the only dedicated tanning salon in the area, allowing us to focus entirely on providing exceptional tanning services and experiences. We have expanded our offerings by incorporating advanced wellness options, including red light therapy with a full-body bed, as well as introducing the VersaSpa Pro spray tanning system. These additions enable us to accommodate a wide range of client preferences and needs. Whether clients are looking for traditional tanning, sunless options, or wellness-focused services, we are equipped to provide comprehensive, high-quality solutions in a professional and welcoming environment.
