Inspiring Conversations with Brenda Aguilar of Bark Brigade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Aguilar

Hi Brenda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my business a little after my car accident last year, January 17 to be in fact. I have an extreme passion for animals. I was going to school for Vet Tech as well, but school just was never for me, specifically math and science. I have a huge heart for all dog owners who care so much for their precious babies that they worry who they can entrust with them, I mean, I am the exact same way! After many conversations with my sister she was the push I needed to start my business after such a heartfelt conversation.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely not as easy as many people make it to be. You have to know how to get your name out, and thankfully I had some previous coworkers from my very first job when I moved to Kansas City help me out! They referred me to my first ever client and she’s referred me to her family as well! I’ve had the help of friends and family promote me on Facebook posts and just replying to people who were looking for services! I think the main struggle was definitely worrying about if someone was going to get back to me about moving forward with my services, especially since I’m such a new business and just not as popular as the other pet services here in Kansas City. This early in the year I’m starting to finally get a regular schedule with a couple clients, though small it has motivated me more than ever to keep moving forward.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a pet service business for the Kansas City metro area! I offer walks, sits, play dates, pet taxis, check-ins, and group play dates! I started this business out of pure love and I am known to be very caring and be very detailed to all the fur-clients I get and assure the owners that their babies are in good hands. What I believe sets me apart from others is I am honest with my clients and treat their pups as they were my fur babies. Their safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priority each time I visit or stay with a client. What I’m most proud of my business is how happy my clients get when they receive an update on how their pups did on their visits. When they see how honest and detailed I am to their pets they are appreciative! Our motto, “Where Every Bark Matters”, that every pup, kitten, lizards or birds, have a place in our hearts and we will never tell a client that we will not accept their baby. I am here to serve the people of Kansas City when they worry about their baby while they’re working or out of state, their pets truly are my second family! All my current clients appreciate everything I do and always ask for my next availability for sits!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Patience! Oh my goodness when people say patience is virtue, it truly is. I have learned that when I’m patient that everything comes into place, and these last couple of months have proven that to me.
