Inspiring Conversations with Betsy Bennholz of Business by Promotion LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Betsy Bennholz.

Hi Betsy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello! I am Betsy Bennholz.
So if we would work together here’s what you would be getting:
A little sarcasm.
A lot of experience.
And a brain that never quite stops asking questions because I am very curious person!

A Little about me-
My father was from Germany, so details and presentation mattered! I am a mom and a Gigi. A husky dog owner and have another non husky dog too. I love tennis and trying new things. I have an Etsy store with snarky divorce items I share with a good friend. I believe in volunterring and being involved in the community.
I’ve been in the promotional products industry for over 30 years.
I know that sounds like I am ready to go to pasture, but I bring with me extensive vendor relationships and a love of this industry! My clients know me as creative, attentive, and grounded in what actually works.
Trendy is cute, but results are better.

If you want someone who’ll give you her all, ask smart questions, and be extremely attentive…
I’m here. I know how to use Chat gpt and Claude, but they do not replace human connections and are just a tool.
But fair warning… I am not your typical promo person, and I don’t own a pocket protector and I am not selling paper calendars to clients!
And I don’t believe in cheap pens.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I once put together a version of the game “Life” for an award I applied for. It had everyday struggles to business struggles. My family used to call me “The Little General” for a reason. You have to have a strong work ethic and the willingness to keep going to get what you want. AND, I had mentors and friends that helped along the way.

My struggles included everything from trying to get a bank loan because I was a woman and needed my husband to sign it (even though he was not part of the business) to Covid killed my collegiate licensing contracts.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Business by Promotion LLC?

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I absolutely love that Kansas City is a big – small city. It is kind of like the 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon only better!
Also so many things to do and get involved in.
