Hi Bessy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Mavel’s Insurance was born from a deep passion for helping people—especially during their most difficult moments—and making sure they feel they have someone they can trust when challenges arise. From the beginning, our mission has been to support our community, understanding that no situation, language barrier, or circumstance should ever prevent someone from receiving the help they need.
As a Honduran/American citizen , my purpose is also deeply personal. When I was younger, I experienced an accident and, unfortunately, I did not have insurance at the time. I remember feeling alone, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do. In that moment, I realized I never wanted others to go through the same experience. That became the foundation of my desire to help people—without judgment, regardless of how much they know about insurance or financial matters.
My journey has not been easy, but through consistency, hard work, empathy, and kindness, we have been able to grow Mavel’s into something meaningful. Our goal goes beyond being just an office; we strive to be a true source of support for our community and for our people.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t believe any path is ever completely smooth. One of my biggest challenges happened when Mavel’s was just beginning—I found out I was pregnant. At that moment, I had to take care of myself, my baby, my business, and my family all at the same time. I wanted to give my absolute best to my new business because I have always believed in giving my all in everything I do, but there were also limitations that were no longer in my control.
I remember feeling frustrated at times, but looking back now, I understand that there is no challenge too great for women who are determined to achieve their dreams. During that same period, I also had to find a new location for my business, which brought many unexpected changes. It was not easy, but it taught me resilience, faith, and perseverance.
To anyone going through something similar, my message is simple: everything is possible if you truly believe in yourself.
We’ve been impressed with Mavel’s Insurance, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are an insurance and multi-services business dedicated to supporting our community in every stage of life and business. We offer commercial insurance to help entrepreneurs protect their work and achieve their business goals, as well as auto, home, and renters insurance to keep families protected at all times. In addition, we provide tax preparation, accounting services, and many other essential resources.
Our purpose has always been to give our clients everything they need in one place and to be seen not just as a service provider, but as a trusted source of support they can rely on in every moment.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice is to believe in your purpose, even when the journey feels uncertain. No path is completely smooth, and challenges will come, but consistency, hard work, and empathy will guide you forward. I learned that growth takes time and it’s okay not to have everything figured out in the beginning. Keep going, trust yourself, and remember that everything is possible when you truly believe in your dream.
