Today we’d like to introduce you to Ania Casanova

Hi Ania, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
With just a carry-on, my camera, and a one-way ticket to India, I set off on a trip around the world right after college. Over the next five years, I traveled and honed my photography skills, taking courses along the way. I can honestly say that photography came second—traveling was always first!

But what really captured my heart was photographing people. From children playing with sticks and rocks in the villages of Nepal to Australian families exploring nature and spotting koalas in the trees, I fell in love with telling stories through images. I found my passion in documentary-style photography.

After moving to Kansas City (with a love story in the mix :)) in 2023, I decided to relaunch my photography business to help Kansas City families document life’s most significant moments.

My photography blends lifestyle shots that capture genuine emotions and the loving bond between people, while still offering timeless, classic photos that your grandmother would be proud to hang in her living room.

I offer at-home sessions for newborns, babies, and milestone photoshoots. Families that work with me believe these first moments of their babies’ lives are worth capturing! I’ll come to your home to document the beauty of your new addition anytime.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Reopening a business in a new country (!) always comes with its challenges. I started out as a traveling photographer, then settled in my home country of Poland for three years, and in January 2023, I moved to Kansas City.

Moving across the world, getting married, settling in KC, making new friends, and establishing a professional presence is no easy feat, but God has been there to guide me through it all…!

As it often goes, I began by photographing (new) friends, who shared my work with others. Before I knew it, strangers who loved my work started reaching out to me.

My goal is not only to take beautiful images but also to provide helpful content for parents-to-be. On my website, aniacasanova.com, I share not only newborn sessions but also helpful tips, like how to prepare for your shoot, the most comfortable postpartum outfits for photoshoots, and even where to give birth in Kansas City!

Patience and consistency are key, and I’ll admit, I could definitely use a little more of both. 😉

Lifestyle newborn photography and at-home sessions are where my heart and skills truly lie. What sets me apart is that, over the course of 5 years as a traveling photographer, I worked with people from various cultures and backgrounds. This experience has given me a unique ability to connect with families on a deeper level, capturing authentic moments that reflect what they are really about.

I love visiting the homes of new parents and using my photography to show them that:
a) They are beautiful, just as they are.
b) They don’t need to worry about the state of their house—dishes in the sink or not.
c) Gorgeous photos can be taken without stress, with plenty of time for nursing and snuggles.

I’m truly honored to capture the special moments of every family, and to this day, I still find it hard to believe I get to do this for a living!
