Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Judy.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my career as a High School teacher, and that experience shaped so much of who I am today. I loved building relationships, helping people, and guiding others through important moments in their lives, when I decided to stay home with my little man, that eventually led me into real estate, a career where I could continue serving people, just in a different way.
Like any new business, it started with a lot of hard work, and a lot of learning as you go. I focused on treating every client like family, showing up consistently, and building my business through my amazing network, trust, connections and referrals. Relationships have become the foundation of my success.
Today, I’m proud to help buyers and sellers throughout the entire Kansas City area, while staying deeply involved in my community through local organizations, boards, schools, and volunteer work. Real estate isn’t just about houses to me, it’s about helping people through some of the biggest milestones in their lives. Looking back, leaving the classroom was a big leap, to be a stay at home mom, but ended up never actually staying home, but it led me exactly where I was meant to be.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was making the decision to leave teaching. I truly thought I would retire from my classroom, it was a career I loved and one that was a huge part of my identity.
Everything changed after having my son. I experienced life-threatening complications during his birth, and that completely shifted my perspective on what mattered most. It made me realize how precious time is and how important it was for me to create a career that allowed me to be present for my family.
Starting over in real estate wasn’t easy. I had to build a business from the ground up while learning an entirely new industry. But every challenge was worth it because it gave me the flexibility to be there for my son’s school events, milestones, and everyday moments that I never want to miss.
That experience reminds me every day why I do what I do, to build a life and career that’s centered on people, relationships, and the moments that matter most.
As you know, we’re big fans of ERA McClain Brothers- Realtor . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a Realtor with ERA McClain Brothers Real Estate, helping buyers and sellers throughout the Kansas City area. I work with everyone from first-time homebuyers to growing families, downsizers, and luxury clients, and I love helping people navigate every stage of homeownership.
What I’m most known for is the level of service I provide. I believe real estate is about so much more than contracts and houses, it’s about relationships, trust, and guiding people through one of the biggest decisions of their lives. I pride myself on being responsive, proactive, and making sure my clients feel informed and supported every step of the way.
One of my greatest strengths is building connections. Over the years, I’ve developed an incredible network of lenders, contractors, inspectors, tradespeople, and community partners. If there’s a challenge, I can usually connect my clients with the right person or find a solution. Growing up, my parents taught me, there was always a way to figure things out. So I joke saying they didn’t call it Angie’s list for nothing….if you need someone or something, I somehow know who to call or how to make it happen. That resourcefulness has become one of the biggest assets I bring to my clients.
I’m especially proud that the majority of my business comes from referrals and repeat clients. To me, that’s the greatest compliment because it means people trust me enough to recommend me to their friends and family.
What sets me apart is my heart for serving others. My background as a teacher taught me how to educate, communicate, and advocate, and I bring those same skills into every transaction. I’ve been known to have a fierce drive, dedication for my people and a little extra, someone who goes above and beyond, and that’s exactly how I approach my business every day. My goal is always to make the experience as smooth, enjoyable, and successful as possible while building relationships that last long after the closing table. And to always have a little fun along the way!
How do you define success?
Success, to me, isn’t measured by the number of homes I sell or awards. It’s measured by the impact I have on the people I serve.
If my clients feel heard, cared for, and confident throughout the process, that’s success. If they call me years later for their next move, recommend me to their family and friends, or stop to give me a hug when I see them around town, I know I’ve done my job well.
Success also means balance. Being a mom, you realize being present for the people you love is just as important as building a successful career. I wanted a life where I could make a difference in my clients’ lives while still being there for my son and showing him how to help the community we belong to and how to be a kind kid,
At the end of the day, success is building a life and a business rooted in relationships, service, and leaving people better than I found them. If I can do that, I consider myself successful.
