Inspiring Conversations with Amber Wright of Wright Lux Stays

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Amber Wright.

Amber Wright

Hi Amber, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Kansas City, and many of my family & friends still live in KC, including my parents. We began remodeling and running short-term rentals in Sonoma, CA (close to where we lived and were married) and fell in love with it! The designing & furnishing of the homes, connecting with guests, connecting with the community… it is a passion of mine!

As our family grew, it was harder for all of us to fit in my parent’s house when we all came to visit, so we looked at an investment property in KC that we could use & some income with when we weren’t using. Kansas City is such a booming city right now, so we were excited about it! The first one went well, so we continued to add to our portfolio in Kansas City.

We remodel our homes from head to toe and then furnish them with stylish luxury designs and decor. A few of our homes have had local production companies shoot campaigns in them… and we were so very flattered! We hope you love our homes as much as we do!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Short-term rentals can always be a challenge. We make sure to reach out to all neighbors and have a great rapport with them. We never want challenges! We also make sure to scrutinize our guests highly to avoid any issues. Knock on wood. Our guests have all been fantastic!

When we first bought our two Kansas City properties, the regulations shifted, but we were luckily able to obtain permits and operate. Our neighbors have been so gracious, and we have developed some fantastic relationships. Some of them have had family & friends stay with us!

I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wright Lux Stays?
I have been in real estate my entire career (even in college!). My uncle and family friends had successful careers in the field, and I fell in love with it early on. My first internship was in Kansas City. I have been in commercial real estate for over 20 years, but it wasn’t until five years ago that I stumbled into short-term rentals.

It was a dream of my husband and I’s to buy a property in Sonoma, as we loved it so much and were married there. To afford the property, we knew we were going to rent it out. Our design & furnishings proved to be popular, and the rental was a quick success. From that success, we were able to install a pool, improve that property, and then utilize it to expand. We have since expanded our portfolio and now have seven properties in 3 states (and more to come!). We are also launching a property management company in Sonoma (so please reach out when you come!).

When first starting my career, I didn’t expect to be in the hospitality industry, but I absolutely love it. I am a problem solver and strive to be quick to communicate with guests and help them in any way I can. I also have a passion for luxury design and short-term rental design, as it allows you to have a lot of fun! I focus on designing all my homes for luxury and comfort in the guest’s home away from home. We hope you come to stay with us!

Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I love collaboration, networking, and helping others. When I can’t host someone, I have other property managers and owners I have on speed dial to share the guests I can’t accommodate.

I would love to host others at our properties (mention this for friends & family discounts!) and am passionate about helping others to succeed in real estate.
