Hi Alexis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Alexis Puckett, and I’m the owner and photographer behind Alexis Renee Photographs. Art has always been a huge part of who I am, and I’ve always had a passion for capturing meaningful moments through photos. Just a year ago, I bought my very first professional camera and took a leap of faith to turn that passion into a business. I never imagined how quickly this journey would grow.
I’m completely self-taught, and every session has been an opportunity to learn, grow, and push myself creatively. In just one year, I’ve celebrated my first year in business, photographed my very first weddings, and even booked my first international wedding—something I never would have imagined when I first picked up my camera.
Photography is so much more than creating beautiful images to me. After losing my dad, I realized how few photos I have of us together. That experience completely changed the way I see photography and made me understand just how priceless memories truly are. Knowing that I can preserve those moments for families, couples, and individuals is something I never take for granted. Every photo becomes part of someone’s story, and that’s incredibly meaningful to me.
I’m also getting married myself in September 2026, which has given me an even deeper appreciation for the wedding experience. Planning my own wedding has helped me connect with my couples on a different level because I understand the excitement, the emotions, and the countless little details that make the day so special. I always approach a wedding day with the mindset of how I would want someone to show up for me on my own wedding day—calm, encouraging, organized, and fully invested in making the experience as stress-free and joyful as possible.
One of my favorite parts of this career is getting to create art alongside other talented business owners. This industry has introduced me to so many inspiring and supportive women who have welcomed me with open arms, and I’ve been incredibly blessed with clients who have become so much more than clients—many have become genuine friends.
Looking back over this first year, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. What started as a dream with my little Nikon camera has grown into a business that has taken me places I never imagined, introduced me to incredible people, and allowed me to preserve memories that families will cherish for generations. It’s amazing to think that just a year ago I was hoping someone would trust me to photograph a wedding, and now I’m preparing to photograph one in another country. I truly can’t wait to see where this journey leads next.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, I’ve been incredibly fortunate when it comes to my photography business. I’ve been blessed with amazing clients, supportive vendor relationships, and I don’t have any horror stories to tell. If anything, the biggest challenge has been balancing everything.
Outside of photography, I work full-time as a COTA/L, so learning how to juggle a full-time healthcare career while building a photography business has definitely been an adjustment. On top of that, I’m planning my own wedding for September 2026 while still trying to make time for family, friends, and the people I love. There have definitely been seasons where it felt like there just weren’t enough hours in the day.
Through it all, my fiancé has been my biggest supporter. He’s believed in me from the very beginning, encouraged me to chase this dream, and has been there through the late-night editing sessions, weekend weddings, and everything in between. Having someone who supports your dreams the way he supports mine has made all the difference.
Even with the busy schedule, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Every challenge has been worth it because I get to do something I genuinely love while building a business I’m incredibly proud of. Whenever I start to feel overwhelmed or think I’m too busy, I remind myself that not long ago I was praying for exactly this—to have a calendar full of sessions, couples who trust me, and a business that’s growing. That perspective keeps me grounded, grateful, and ready to get back to work.

Alexis Renee Photographs is more than just taking pictures to me—it’s about preserving memories that people can look back on for years to come. I love capturing weddings, couples, and all of life’s biggest moments because I know how important those memories become over time. I want every client to feel comfortable, have fun, and know they have someone in their corner from the moment they book with me until their gallery is delivered. The relationships I’ve built through this business are what I’m most proud of. So many of my clients have become genuine friends, and there’s no greater compliment than someone trusting me to document one of the most important days of their life.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If I could go back a year ago and sit down with the version of myself who had just bought her first camera, I honestly don’t think I’d change a thing. Every mistake, every learning experience, and every challenge helped me become the photographer I am today. My biggest piece of advice is simple: just do it. If you’re waiting until you feel “ready,” you’ll probably be waiting forever. My only regret is that I didn’t take the leap sooner. You never know where one decision can take you, and for me, it completely changed my life.
