Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Davis
Hi Alexis, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a mother of three—an 8-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 4-year-old. My two youngest were born just 8 months apart, in January 2020 and October 2020. Being a stay-at-home mom was all I ever wanted, but somewhere along the way, I lost myself. I constantly put myself last, and the financial strain of supporting a family of five on one income took its toll—not just on me but on my relationship as well. I found myself at my lowest, and I knew something had to change.
My husband and I made a decision: I would invest in myself—not just for me but for my family. I wanted to do something that made a difference, something that made others feel good. So, I enrolled in esthetics school. But it wasn’t easy. My husband worked long hours, and at the same time, we began noticing signs that our youngest child might be on the autism spectrum. We were desperate for answers and help. On top of that, it was during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, making everything even more overwhelming. But despite the sleepless nights and the chaos, I graduated.
Just as I was preparing to take my state boards, my world shattered. I got the worst news of my life, that my father had been killed in a wrong-way accident caused by a drunk driver. Grief consumed me. I knew my test anxiety was already high, and I needed time to process what had happened. But my dad came to me in dreams, reminding me that I could do this—that I was meant to do this.
When the day finally came for my exam, I was a ball of nerves. The testing center was just a minute away from where my father’s accident had happened. But as I took a deep breath before walking in, something told me to check my backseat. And there it was—a small green golf tee, tucked between my children’s car seats. My father’s. A sign. I clutched it in my hand, walked inside, and took my exam. I passed. I did it, Dad.
From that moment on, I made a promise to myself: I would no longer just survive—I would heal, I would grow, and I would live. I embarked on a self-care and wellness journey, losing 113 pounds naturally. I went to therapy. My youngest was diagnosed as Level 2 autistic, and we found the resources and support he needed—he’s thriving now. And I built a business from the ground up, one that allows me to help others feel beautiful, confident, and cared for while also giving me the flexibility I need as a mother of three, a co-parent, and a special needs parent.
For a long time, I wondered what my purpose was beyond being a mother. But I see it so clearly now. My journey—every hardship, every loss, every challenge—was preparing me to help others. Self-care saved my life, and now I get to show others how to pour back into themselves, even when life feels impossible. Because no matter how dark it gets, you can rise again. I’m living proof.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to becoming an esthetician has been anything but smooth. Balancing motherhood, especially as a special needs parent, while pursuing my career was already a challenge. Then, losing my father in such a traumatic way, facing extreme financial stress, and battling my own mental health struggles made the journey even harder. On top of that, working in a toxic environment tested my resilience, caused me to have tachycardia, and other health issues. But every obstacle led me to where I am today—working for myself, doing what I love, and helping others feel confident in their own skin. Every struggle has fueled my purpose: to show others that no matter how dark life gets, you can rise again. I am living proof that even in the hardest moments, you can find your strength and build the life you deserve.
As you know, we’re big fans of Sculpted Beauty . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Sculpted Beauty is more than just a beauty studio—it’s a safe space where self-care meets confidence. I specialize in brow sculpting, lamination, tinting, and natural skin care, helping clients enhance their natural beauty while feeling empowered in their skin. What sets me apart is my deep passion for self-care and my belief that beauty services should go beyond aesthetics—they should be a transformative experience.
My journey into esthetics was fueled by my own personal struggles. I understand firsthand how neglecting self-care can take a toll on your mental and emotional well-being. That’s why my approach is not just about the service but about creating a space where clients can relax, recharge, and leave feeling their absolute best.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of building something that allows me to not only support my family but also inspire others—whether it’s my clients who come in for services or other estheticians looking to grow in the beauty industry. I also provide education through my platform, sharing knowledge on skincare, brow aftercare, and self-care rituals that can truly make a difference.
At Sculpted Beauty, my goal is simple: to help people feel good, inside and out. Whether you’re looking for the perfect brows, professional guidance, or a moment to prioritize yourself, I’m here to make that happen.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The beauty and esthetics industry is evolving rapidly, and I see significant shifts happening over the next 5–10 years. One of the biggest trends will be the rise of customized, results-driven self-care. Clients are no longer just looking for beauty treatments; they want services that enhance their natural features while also improving skin health and overall well-being.
Technology and innovation will also play a huge role. We’re already seeing advancements in skincare formulations, non-invasive treatments, and AI-driven beauty consultations. I believe brow sculpting, lamination, and tinting will continue to gain popularity, but with a stronger emphasis on long-term brow health and natural enhancement rather than extreme transformations.
Additionally, education and social media marketing will become even more crucial for estheticians. Clients are becoming more informed, and professionals who share their knowledge online will build deeper trust and loyalty. This shift will create new opportunities for estheticians to expand their brands beyond the treatment room—through digital courses, product lines, and educational content.
Another major change will be the increasing focus on mental health and self-care integration. Beauty services will be viewed as more than just aesthetics—they’ll be recognized as a form of self-care and confidence-building. I see more businesses, like mine, prioritizing a holistic experience where clients leave not just looking better, but feeling empowered.
Ultimately, the industry is moving towards sustainability, inclusivity, and personalization. Those who adapt and innovate will thrive, and I’m excited to continue growing, evolving, and helping people feel their absolute best.
