Inspiring Conversations with Alexandra Ortega of Amor De Lash LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Ortega

Hi Alexandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Everyone usually asks me what made me get into lashing and it was pretty simple; I wanted to provide good quality work but also provide the creativity of lash sets. So what I mean by that is I noticed that not many lash tech’s in Kansas City specialized in wispy/spikey sets so I wanted to bring that to KC. I took my first class at the end of 2020. I didn’t take my first client until the first of 2021. I still wasn’t fully confident in my styling when it came to doing lashes so I decided to take another two classes one was here in Kansas City and the other I traveled to Dallas, TX. That’s one thing I’ve noticed about myself is when I take interest in something I invest myself 100% So if I didn’t feel 100% in something I would practice and practice until I figured it out. I’ve been lashing 4 years now and I am truly confident in the work I provide. I don’t think I ever pictured myself as a business owner but I love the beauty industry so I was happy to stay within my interests.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was pregnant when I first started lashing; being a mother and business owner has been probably my biggest obstacle. Now on top of that I am also now a part-time student. I think always staying busy whether that’s being a mother, a business owner or student is hard to juggle but actually doing it makes me feel like I can take on anything. It is hard though for sure.

We’ve been impressed with Amor De Lash LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a local small business in Kansas City, Missouri. I do eyelash extensions many call it being a “lash tech” but I consider myself a lash artist. Doing lashes is like an art especially when you aren’t following a certain map or style or look that many follow. Lashing someone isn’t just gluing extensions to their natural lash its making sure the look suits their eye-shape, that the length is a comfortable size and that you’re meeting your clients wants in their desired lash outcome. I’d like to say I specialize in wispy/spikey sets so the lashes have spikes thought out the set to give it some dimension and not look so uniform. Along with wispy sets, I also really enjoy doing natural looking sets; some of my clients will tell me that people think their lash extensions are their actual natural lashes. That’s one of the many things I love about lash extensions; they can look as natural or as fake as you want them to be. I do think my retention stands out, my clients always talk about how well they hold up. Lash extensions are expensive and they should be lasting to make it worth it. I’m always accepting new clients. I also recently started doing loyalty cards.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I would love to collaborate with other other business owners Im just super shy. I don’t really put myself out there unless it’s on my business page.
