Hi Al, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a native of Boston Mass and got started as the husltle was real in this city . One of the guys I use to hang in the area need a job because his girlfriend was expecting a baby. So I went to a local NACP meeting where was a reformed alcoholic preacher giving local jobs to the youth. At this time he asked me what did I want to do and I replied that he could do anything for me. He challenged and I mentioned music and so he mad a call and the next thing I know i was in NY meeting with MCA. After a very interesting meeting and some recommendations by him I decided that I didn’t want to work in the capacities people was offering but it sparked a demand . I went home and shorty after I get a call to interview for a new division of A&M Gospel records which had artist like the Clark sisters ,Shirley Ceasar Mighty Clould etc… I didnt know much about gospel music as I was a hip hop head. I went back to NY to interview thinking I had a job offer and there was more then Thirty people waiting in line . I asked the person where there boss was and they mentioned Chicago . I flew the same day and walk thru the door saw the bossed name on the door and walk over and opened . At that point I discovered he was in a meeting with his bosses and they look at and asked what I want? I said you told to fill out the papers so I beleive I had the job. I that moment his bosses said so you flew here while everyone else is interviewing in NY ? I said yes and his response was hire him he cut the comptition in half. I feel the best thing has been to be consist and persistent. Follow threw has allow me to where many hats so that I be president , VP , and GM for a majors and indies which include Sony Epic and Columbia, Platinum ent , BMG Universal , Capital , EMI Disney Etc… It help me to A&R promote brand consult .

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well the struggles come when there is a formula that work and some people try to change it. there use to be great urban music division and a lot of players who had the ear to the ground that had success in this biz but you will never know because backward changes and way the music business has been handled. Also today the subscription streaming model is a not very supportive when the artist and people who created getting practically nothing for there works but most artist won’t band together because they don’t know they have a voice. There are things that need to be discuss with business side and talent that I beleive can really work but it will have to crash before they sit together .

As you know, we’re big fans of Bluraffe ent . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I have worked with many bigh named artist such as Micheal Jackson , Luther Vandross , Babyface Sade Shabba Mint Condition Grove Theory Jamiroquai Eddie Griffen John B etc…
I have worked with top producers such Jimmy Jam &Terry lewis Rodney Jerking Monster and Stranger Chucky Thompson Hitboy , S Dot and JCash etc… I have worked with most of the rappers anyone from 50cent Snoop dog, Camron , Wale ,Mc Eeight Rage aganst the machine and many more. What i am mostley proud of is the Artist that I have help there new carees with like of Stokley , Zendaya , Shakespeare! Audio push ,Sdot and helping them find there lane.
