Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Eckel.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am currently a blogger/influencer and I also have my own social consulting business called Moon Social Consulting. I’ve actually been working in social media for ten years and blogging for three. I started blogging after my second son was born. I’ve always loved writing and felt like since having kids, I had been through a lot – and during those times, I often felt alone. I didn’t want anyone out there to feel that way if they were ever going through something similar, so I decided to start my blog – Life with Huddy and Harry. Huddy and Harry are my two boys.
During the pandemic, I was working full-time for a company doing social media and just realized I really wanted to be my own boss. I wanted to decide how, where and who I worked with, so I decided to start my own social consulting business.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing about social media is a smooth road. It is forever changing and evolving, but I think that’s why I love it so much because it keeps me engaged and on my toes. I’ve learned that I can get bored very easily with things, but social media is never one of those things. There are also times were working in social media and doing it as a creative hobby can weigh too much on me and my mental health. There are times where I feel completely bored and uninspired so I struggle to create content. But I’ve always tried to be as open and transparent on my blog and my Instagram about my life as possible. I don’t want anyone to have a misconception about my life based on a square.
We’ve been impressed with Moon Social Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I work with small to medium-sized brands and businesses to help them with their social media strategy. From simply creating and delivering the strategy itself to training employees and staff on how to create engaging social media copy. I also do influencer campaigns and activations for brands. I worked at an agency for three years and have learned the overall business impact social media can have when it’s implemented correctly. I’ve helped businesses increase leads over 100% year-over-year by implementing paid social ad strategies and organic strategies. Social media isn’t just about awareness. When done correctly, it can generate leads and revenue, too.
I also have a unique advantage when it comes to influencer campaigns as I’ve been on both sides of the business dealings. I’ve been an influencer working with a brand, and I’ve represented brands seeking out influencers to partner with.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My husband is my biggest supporter in both my blog and my business. When I told him I wanted to be serious about blogging and the time I wanted to commit to growing it, he never batted an eye. He supported me through the beginning stages as I figured out the world of influencing, and he’s been there to celebrate my triumphs and growth. He’s also the one who encouraged me to start my own business. When I was worried I would fail, he reassured me that it wouldn’t happen because I was too good at what I do to fail. He deserves a lot of credit here.
