Hidden Gems: Meet Toby Evans of SageBrush Exchange

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toby Evans.

Toby Evans

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
After teaching art with the Dubuque, IA, public school system, I moved to Kansas City in 1987 and established SageBrush Exchange as an Art studio. Workshops were offered incorporating art with Shamanic practices while exploring Native American and Incan Medicine Wheel teachings. Upon moving to Missouri, my husband renovated a five-acre field of soybeans into a prairie restoration project. By 1995, I was inspired to lay out the “The Prairie Labyrinth” in that field. As a classical Seven-Circuit design, it was intended as a walking meditation set up in alignment with the seven chakras, or the seven basic vital energy centers of the body. The Chakras and the Labyrinth, used together as ancient archetypal patterns, create a profound, self-reflective tool to examine and resolve current life issues. My involvement with “soul retrievals” (A Shamanic practice of reclaiming pieces of self from past traumatic events) prompted me to begin hypnotherapy training in 2000. I am certified by Dr. Brian Weiss as a Past Life hypnotherapist, Dolores Canon as a Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) practitioner, and The Newton Institute as an (LBL) Life Between Lives Spiritual Regressionist. I was a founding member of the international organizations “The Labyrinth Society” and “The Art Line Project” and the author of: “Chakra Labyrinth Cards,” “Keeper of the Circles: Answering Your Call to Wholeness,” “Dead ~ But Not Gone: Are You Part of the Soul-Bridge to Guide Them Home?” and my most recent offering “Soul-Bridge to Original Light.”

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been relatively smooth so far?
Subtle inner guidance has directed every step I have taken, which has been a struggle of discernment, questioning the accuracy or authenticity of the inner messages I receive. In March of 2007, the roof of the old building I was using as my studio/ client space started leaking, with water pouring in from the accumulated snow and poor roof construction. I heard the inner words, “Knock it down and start again,” which seemed logical but a monumental personal and monetary undertaking. It presented all kinds of hardships and strains on our family. Despite the resistance, fear, and roadblocks, the new building was up by November, making the work I was transitioning into possible. Trusting my inner promptings has gotten easier over the years- a constant practice overriding my self-doubt by following through with positive action.

We’ve been impressed with SageBrush Exchange, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
SageBrush Exchange has evolved from an art studio to a con-soul-ing practice (counseling from the soul’s perspective), which includes Akashic Record Consultations, Past Life and Life Between Lives regressions, and Soul-Bridge sessions (helping earthbound souls crossover). Training and certifications in these areas resulted from my spiritual exploration. Most practitioners in similar fields do not typically address the possibility that friends, family, strangers, and even past life aspects of ourselves who have died may still be here, awaiting our assistance to guide them home. In these unprecedented times of carrying more light, everyday people are beginning to see, sense, hear, and feel things from multidimensional levels they can’t control or easily explain. This includes the awareness of souls who have not crossed over. Assisting them is a valuable service intended for the good of all beings, a service that many will have reason to investigate or become involved in as the planetary vibrations continue to rise.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
To me, “risk-taking” implies going out of my comfort zone to pursue something that others may ridicule and often doesn’t make sense to me, but if the internal “call” is there, passion follows, and the risk is taken. The biggest risk I took was to stop teaching in the public school system and not look for another traditional job when we moved here. Logically, it made no sense, and we needed my salary, yet I went into the ‘void’ of not having a backup plan, living in isolation and blind trust for many years. The emptiness gave me time for self-reflection to pursue my interests. This led to my present career of helping others resolve their issues from a higher vantage point. The energetic field, once considered “woo woo,” is blazing new trails that many are being asked to co-create – requiring a leap of faith. Going more public about the Soul-Bridge Crossing work is a required risk now as larger groups of souls are being freed up to leave the Earth plane, and awareness is needed by those willing to assist. I have been guided to use the Labyrinth as a focusing tool to facilitate this process.
