Hidden Gems: Meet Tameka Lopez of The Thirsty Chariot Mobile Liquid Catering Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tameka Lopez

Hi Tameka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The Thirsty Chariot started as a vision at least 20 years ago. I’ve been in the beauty business for 26 years. I’ve always told my clients ” If I wasnt a hairstylist, I’d be a bartender ” because I feel like in both businesses you’re an under paid therapist! I never knew that that phrase would really come to light but it did. In 2022 after 23 years behind the chair I decided to give hairstyling a break. I was just burnt out and I wanted to do something more excited, more challenging if you will. My husband Carlos invited me to lunch after my final day in the salon. That day he asked me “What do you think you wanna do now that your not in the salon” and in that moment I said “I think I wanna start a Mobile Bar Business”. I was kinda shocked at how easy that just rolled off my tongue. Mobile Bar? Like going to people? I was thinking just going to weddings and parties and setting up at these events and serve drinks. But after he showed me a young lady on the internet that converted a trailer into a mobile bar I was definitely sold on that idea and the rest is history!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It absolutely hasn’t been a smooth ride! There are alot of steps to having a mobile bar business and I had no idea where to start. All I knew is i had a vision and Google to get me started.

The Thirsty Chariot has provided Mobile Beverage Catering all over Kansas and Missouri. We offer both alcohol and Non Alcohol Options for any crowd so no one is left out. We specialize in Corporate Events providing professionalism and attention to details to make any Corporate Event memorable. We also cater beverages for Weddings, Private Parties and other Social Events. We offer custom menus with Signature Coctails and Mocktails and Specialized drinks to cater to any Event.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That although I own a bar, im not a big drinker. Seems funny that someone who sells alcohol doesn’t drink much but I’ve just never been a huge drinker. I learned alot about bartending and drinks and even certain alcohol going to a bartending class.
