Hi Samantha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey in production begins at a young age. It started with me working for my dad’s production company where we worked in the high-energy world of professional wrestling, filming and running lights/sound wherever the wrestling circuit was near us. As I entered junior high, a new passion ignited: photography and design. The ability to craft images and visuals became an obsession. I spent countless hours experimenting with different techniques, learning about composition, and developing my skills. This passion only grew stronger throughout high school, fueling my decision to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Graphic Design and Marketing. College was a transformative period. The academic rigors combined with hands-on experience at the college’s printing press honed my technical skills. Simultaneously, I secured an internship with a renowned photographer in Branson, MO, gaining invaluable insights into the industry. It was during this time that a clear vision began to form. I realized a gap in the market. Many companies offered specialized services – video, photography, or design – but few combined all three. This realization sparked the idea for Sander Productions. With a solid foundation in video production, a deep-rooted passion for photography, and a formal education in design, I formed my business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path to Sander Productions wasn’t without its challenges. Self-doubt and questioning my abilities were and are constant companions. I feel like this is a struggle many creatives face. It was easy to wonder if my skills and quality of work were good enough to charge people for, but eventually you have to put faith in yourself and grow confident in your abilities. It was also easy to make excuses and postpone my goals because I have the comfort of a steady job, but I knew reaching my dreams meant stepping outside that comfort zone and challenging myself. At some point the planning and developing had to stop and I just had to hit that launch button (figuratively).
