Today we’d like to introduce you to Russell Reynolds.
Hi Russell, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out investigating the paranormal at the age of 13, after a paranormal experience at age 6 in a house we lived in. So, fast-forward to just after high school, a buddy of mine and I would go out on the weekends to investigate cemeteries and houses. In 2006, I met Robb Demarest from the TV show Ghost Hunters International, and we got to talking. I was also a DJ back then, and he knew that I wanted to start my own paranormal group, so he made me a deal if I made him a mix tape, so he could listen to it on his flights. He was the assistant director of Florida Ghost Team, and when he was filming the show, he got me in contact with Sean, the director, who would work with me on running a team and equipment. When Robb was off, he would also work with me on running a group and equipment. So Beyond Life Paranormal Research was founded in 2006. I would stay up late at night and read everything I could on the paranormal and the demonic. I would read Ed and Lorraine Warren’s books and watch the videos of the Seekers of the Supernatural show with Ed and Lorraine. Then, in 2012, I moved to Missouri and started a branch of the group Beyond Life Paranormal Research Missouri. The other group ran until 2016, and then I decided to shut that one down. The Missouri group was booming, and we were starting to evolve. In 2020, we were asked by Amanda Quill to take over the state of Missouri and join the Coldspotters family, which is an honor for us Coldspotters is a national and international group; they have teams all over the world. I also study demonology under Sister Farah Rose Perry and Father Bob Bailey. We speak at events and conventions all over the United States, and continue to help families all over the United States, and continue to educate people on the paranormal and demonic. In 2026, I decided to start a business called Beyond Life Paranormal Research LLC to host paranormal events, conventions, and sell paranormal equipment that we build. We also do shirts and 3d printed items. Our team is made up of Russell Reynolds Jr., Founder, Russell Reynolds Sr., who is my right-hand man and co-founder, our cousin Kathy Taylor, who is our merch manager, and we have two trainee members.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road in the paranormal field; there’s a lot of hate, egos, and competition. When I started 31 years ago, it wasn’t nearly this bad. You would have the occasional skeptic or someone who thought they were a professional in the field, now it’s all over, and that is a struggle we old school paranormal teams face because we were taught a lot differently than the new paranormal group era. And it’s not just the investigation part of it. It’s also in the business part as well, with hosting events and conventions. Even trying to get into conventions as well, because if you weren’t on TV or a big name in the paranormal field, you were overlooked, and most of them just go with the same people every year, and that is a struggle for teams starting. It’s also the same with headlining events as well. Another struggle we face as the old school investigators is that everybody is learning from watching YouTube teams that are doing it for entertainment, and it makes us old school teams look bad because that’s not the right way to learn. When I started at 13 years old, we didn’t have YouTube, and in 2006, we had Paranormal State and Ghost Hunters who were out there helping people. Now, everything is a demon, and that creates fear in people because they get it from the YouTubers. Demons are rare; not everything is demonic, but this is the struggle we face because these new teams are learning this. It’s not about the work in the field anymore; it’s about views, money, and becoming famous, and another struggle we face is the level of drama and hate from other teams and people who have the mind set to destroy everything you worked hard for because you have family in the field who they hate so they target you and try there hardest to make it bad for you so you quit. There’s a lot of bullying that us investigator’s have to deal with because of how we investigate or because we got into a location that another team couldn’t get into, or if you make a name for yourself in the field for the work you do, helping people, you get attacked for it. These are some of the struggles we have to face in the paranormal field,
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a business that hosts events, makes, and sells shirts. We design shirts and logos as well, and we also build paranormal equipment, 3d printed figures, and wood-burning cutting boards. We formed this part of the group in 2026 and evolved in a short time. We are selling at conventions as well as our podcast and forming our own podcast network. What sets us apart from the rest we offer refunds on events if it’s canceled it won’t go to another event that we host, because if a person couldn’t make it, it’s not fair to the customer who is paying for the event. Most event companies offer no refunds. With us, the paranormal group Beyond Life Paranormal Research Missouri Coldspotters Missouri will never charge for investigations of homes to help someone. Beyond Life Paranormal Research LLC won’t charge to come and speak at your event if it’s local. During our paranormal events, you will get educated in the paranormal and get hands-on training. You will be taught how to protect yourself and learn the do’s and don’ts of the field. We can be booked for events, as well as conventions and lectures. We also do charity paranormal events and donate money from an event to preserve history.
What does success mean to you?
Work hard and put your blood, sweat, and tears into what you are doing. Even when it doesn’t seem like it’s working, keep going because that’s the only way you will be successful in what you do. Don’t get discouraged. Starting will be hard, but you will get the rewards at the end. Keep a good attitude and a level head, and you will do fine.
