Hi Robbricka, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey hey! I am a braider. My business is BeautifiedByBrika! I started doing hair when I was younger, around 14, but during this time, I was only doing friends and family hair! I’ve always had a passion for hair & talent but couldn’t put my all into it just yet due to being in the hospital 24:7 with lupus. So, I decided to hold off on introducing it until I was comfortable & stable enough to do so! I decided to finally introduce my skills to everyone in 2020, which was a leap of faith. I wasn’t as good yet, but I was good enough to start getting clients! Since then, I’ve been pushing my business, doubling my clientele & striving ever since 2020!

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
My struggle was dealing with lupus while being a mom trying to run a business & go to school! I would have days where I couldn’t entirely go through with doing hair or had to cancel & ended up losing clients due to flares, hospital admissions, or having to put my kids first! So many times that have caused me to almost give up on everything I’ve worked for.

As you know, we’re big fans of Beautified By Brika. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
I am a 20-year-old braider known for my business, BeautifiedByBrika. I am very proud of pushing through with my business, especially as many times as I wanted to throw in the towel! Another thing is I’m proud of how much I’ve grown as a braider & how much of a big difference I see in my work from when I started! What set me apart from others? I have to juggle a lot of life challenges. I realize many braiders don’t have to deal with starting with my condition. It’s hard to push through 5+ hour early morning appointments when your body is barely willing to let you get out of bed! But that didn’t stop what I set myself out to do or the goals I’ve set for myself! So yes, I’m very proud of myself!

I’m also the owner of LUXURIOUSWinks. It’s one of my upcoming businesses that I’m striving to push out there just like I did my hair business (BeautifiedByBrika ) 🫶🏽 I sell high-quality lashes with various styles!
