Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Fletcher Kaufman.
Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
For as long as I can remember I have had a love for food. I love the smell, the taste, the joy it brings, to eat it, and have others enjoy it. It brings so much happiness and it brings people together, which is my favorite part.
When I was young, I tried all the sports; basketball, lacrosse, tennis, swimming, cheerleading…you name it. What I was really interested in was cooking, and even more specifically, it began for a love of baking. I had two little sisters and every year for their birthday, I made them a themed cake. For friends’ birthdays, I made sweet treats. My middle school boyfriend, I spent time learning all these techniques and I hand placed 300 chocolate chips on a cake surrounded by chocolate dipped strawberries. I was hooked! Once I started maturing, my taste started developing more and I slowly started working on more savory dishes. I had my parents enroll me into a Whole Foods program called Young Chefs Academy. In this program, they teach you all kinds of stuff; knife skills, kitchen safety, presentation, cooking techniques, food preparation, and so much more. I did this for years, I got dropped off one day a week for 2 hours and my mind took it all in. While other kids asked for a toy for their birthday, I asked for a sushi knife, a chef’s coat and a food processor.
Once I was near the end of high school, I truly thought about going to culinary school, but I felt like I needed to stay the course of life and go to a normal college and get a degree like everyone else. Throughout college, I continued to cook when I could and watch cooking shows. When I studied abroad in Spain, I taught my host mom how to make an American dish and she taught me how to make authentic Spanish paella. When in France, my group took a cooking class, and it was by far my favorite part of the experience. When I graduated from college, the first thing I bought with some of the graduation money I saved was a really nice knife set. Every chance I could, I took the opportunity to grow and learn.
It wasn’t until the pandemic hit, I realized I had so much more to learn, and I wanted to get more involved in the kitchen again because when I am in this space, it is when I feel most happy. The world stops around you and you can just focus on the task at hand. There is something therapeutic about preparing food. I started a food Instagram; the profile consists of the dishes I make and come up with on my own. I started it as a way to refer back to what I made and continue to improve in the future. While the handle @fullplatefresh, is not huge in popularity. I am really proud of what I have done and created.
Now as I continue to grow and learn, I feel like I have entered a new realm where I want to use my talents to the best of my ability and bring people together to enjoy carefully prepared food in a curated setting.
I created All Live to embrace the timeless elegance of shared moments. Much like the olive, a symbol of harmony and companionship, the culinary journey offered is crafted to unite and delight. Each dish created, each conversation sparked, is a testament to the richness of human connection. Join me as I cultivate intimate soirées that linger in the memory, where every taste, every laugh, is a symphony of togetherness.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting All Live has come with its challenges. For the past couple of years, people have encouraged me to pursue something in the food industry because it’s where my passion truly lies. It took me some time to conceptualize a unique and innovative idea. Initially, I wanted to launch my own matcha line, but I realized I needed a better way to bring it to market and connect with the product or service I wanted to offer. This led me to create a traveling private chef service, allowing me to combine my event planning skills with my culinary talents. With experience in both the wedding industry and corporate event planning, I aim to eventually launch my own line of food products, with matcha being one of the many offerings on my site!
