Hi Princess, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Ever since I was little, I loved doing hair, starting with my sister and neighbors, following in my aunt’s footsteps to make women feel beautiful. I went to Regency Beauty Institute, became a licensed stylist, and specialized in extensions. Now, I work with artists and influencers in Kansas City, giving every client VIP treatment and transforming their look and confidence.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth, but the obstacles I’ve faced have truly shaped me into the woman I am today. I put myself through college while doing hair as a side hustle, which eventually turned into my full-time passion. But nothing could have prepared me for the accident on April 11th, 2022. I sustained a serious head injury and a shoulder fracture, requiring surgery and forcing me to step back from doing what I love most.

It was incredibly difficult not only to deal with the physical and emotional pain of my injuries but also to face the negative reactions from clients due to errors that happened during that time. I love my clients, especially my future graduates, and it hurt to know things didn’t go as planned. Thankfully, I have an amazing manager Angel Brown who stepped in to fix the wrongs and ensure everything was handled. Her help allowed me to focus on healing without losing the connection I’ve worked so hard to build with my clients.

This entire experience not only tested me but also strengthened my relationship with God. I’ve had to lean on my faith more than ever, and I know that it’s because of God watching over me that I’m still here today. Unfortunately, a recent fire caused significant damage, resulting in the loss of many salon essentials. To help recover these losses, I’ve set up a GoFundMe. As hard as this experience has been, I’m grateful for it because it reminded me how strong I truly am. I’m opening my salon really soon and I’m so excited to see and meet new clients. This journey has shown me that even when life throws its toughest challenges, with faith and perseverance, you can rise again stronger than ever.

I was also a fan of all things pink, which added a touch of fun and flair to my personal style. My outgoing personality and passion for creativity made me naturally drawn to the world of hairstyling.
