Hidden Gems: Meet Peyton Ragan of Sacred Skin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peyton Ragan.

Hi Peyton, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I opened my business in 2020, immediately after graduating from Esthetic school, because I felt there was a gap in the industry. So much of the conversation around skincare is focused on fixing, correcting, or changing ourselves. What interested me most was the experience of helping people feel more connected to themselves.
Through facial massage and a somatic, holistic approach to skincare, I wanted to create an environment where clients could be nurtured, supported, and seen as whole people—not just a list of skin concerns. For me, skincare is about more than appearance; it’s about how we feel in our bodies, how we care for ourselves, and the relationship we build with our own reflection. That philosophy has guided my business from the very beginning and continues to shape the way I work with every client.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but the challenges have helped shape my business and clarify my mission. One of the biggest hurdles has been shifting the narrative around facials and the spa experience here in the Midwest. Traditionally, many people associate skincare treatments with highly corrective, machine-focused services that prioritize quick fixes and visible transformation.

While I absolutely believe in results-driven treatments, my approach looks a little different. I focus on the connection between skin health, nervous system regulation, facial massage, and overall well-being. My goal is not only to create lasting results in the skin, but also to provide an experience that helps clients feel more connected to themselves and supported in the process.

Because this approach is less familiar in my area, there has been an educational component to growing my business. It has taken time to help people understand the value of a more holistic and somatic approach to skincare. However, I’ve found that once clients step through the door and experience it for themselves, they quickly recognize that it’s something different—and that it works. Seeing that shift in perspective has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sacred Skin?
I specialize in creating an experience that begins the moment a client walks through the door and stays with them long after they leave. Every detail of my treatment room is intentional. I strive to engage all five senses to create an environment that feels grounding, nurturing, and restorative.

I am probably best known for my facial massage techniques. While many people initially associate facial massage with relaxation, my approach goes much deeper. By working with the fascia, muscles, and connective tissue of the face, neck, and shoulders, I help release tension, encourage balance within the body, and support healthy, radiant skin. It’s a treatment that delivers visible results while also creating a profound sense of well-being.

What I’m most passionate about, however, is the power of safe, intentional touch. In a world where many people are overstimulated, disconnected, or carrying stress in their bodies, I believe touch can be incredibly healing when offered with care and respect. As someone who has experienced both sexual and domestic abuse, I understand how important it is to feel safe, respected, and in control of your own body. That perspective deeply influences the way I work.

More than anything, I want my clients to feel seen, supported, and comfortable. My goal is to create a space where they can fully relax, let their guard down, and experience care without expectation. While I am proud of the results my clients see in their skin, I am most proud of the environment I’ve created—one where people feel genuinely held, safe, and connected to themselves.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is growing up in Europe and being able to see castles from my bedroom window. Beyond that, I loved the sense of community—sharing meals around tables with people from different backgrounds, hearing different languages, and being exposed to art and culture from a young age.

Those experiences shaped who I am. They taught me the value of connection, curiosity, and beauty in everyday life. While art and aesthetics may seem like very different industries, I draw inspiration from those early influences every day, and they continue to inform the way I create experiences for my clients.
