Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul And Rachel Crabtree.
Paul and Rachel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We were first introduced to sound healing through a close friend who was completing practitioner training with The Sound Healing Academy. During her certification process, we had the opportunity to experience several sound baths ourselves, and those experiences had a profound impact on us. Rachel immediately felt called to pursue certification and share the benefits of sound healing with others. Shortly after, Paul decided to join her in the training, and together we became certified sound healing practitioners.
As a husband-and-wife team, we bring a unique connection into our sessions. Over time, we’ve developed a natural flow where we intuitively work together without needing much verbal communication, allowing us to create deeply immersive and supportive experiences for our clients. What began as a personal journey has grown into a shared passion for helping others find relaxation, balance, and healing through sound.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely wasn’t a completely smooth road. One of the biggest surprises for us was realizing how much depth and knowledge goes into sound healing. When we first started, we thought it would primarily be about learning to play the instruments, but we quickly discovered there is a great deal of study behind the frequencies, notes, and intervals, and how they can support different aspects of the body and mind.
The certification process took longer than we originally anticipated because we wanted to fully understand both the technical and intuitive sides of the practice. We spent a lot of time learning not only the benefits associated with different sounds, but also the various techniques for playing each instrument in a way that creates the most supportive experience for clients. In the end, that deeper education made us more confident and intentional in the work we do today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Essentially Crabtree, we specialize in immersive group sound baths led by two certified practitioners. We also offer private sound bath sessions with either one or two practitioners, depending on the experience clients are looking for. What sets us apart is the connection we have as a husband-and-wife team — during sessions, we intuitively flow together to create a more dynamic and immersive 360-degree sound experience.
One of the things we’re most proud of is being able to build this business together while helping others find relaxation, balance, and restoration through sound healing. We want people to know that every session is created with intention, care, and the goal of providing a safe, supportive space to unwind and reconnect.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
We definitely wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of some amazing people in our lives. Our close friend Kristen Daschke played a huge role in introducing us to sound healing through her own journey with The Sound Healing Academy. Experiencing her sound baths inspired us to pursue certification and ultimately start this business together.
We’ve also been incredibly fortunate to have the support of our good friend Spencer Ellsperman, who has beautifully captured our sessions and helped bring our vision to life visually through photography. And we have to mention Debby Ouimet, who has truly been one of our biggest cheerleaders from the very beginning. Having people who believe in what we’re doing and encourage us along the way has meant so much to us as we’ve grown our business.
