Today we’d like to introduce you to Pam Myers.
Hi Pam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We chose Excelsior Springs, Missouri, to be close to our daughter and her family. After running a successful bed and breakfast in Hermann, Missouri—which we sold in 2020—we were ready for a new adventure.
Both of us have always loved old things and bringing them back to life with a modern flair. When we discovered the beautiful historic building at 109 E Broadway, we immediately fell in love. We also felt the community could use something unique—a craft cocktail lounge where people could relax, connect, and enjoy quality drinks in a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Dale’s passion for whiskey and cigars and Pam’s lifelong love of fashion came together perfectly. With a little inspiration from our daughter, the idea of a “bartique” was born—a blend of a boutique and a bar.
After ten months of renovation, our vision came to life: a quiet, comfortable lounge without televisions, where people can gather, converse, and unwind—much like sitting around the table at a family dinner or a good old-fashioned house party. It’s a place where people from all walks of life can share stories, laughter, and good company.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any new venture, ours hasn’t been without its share of obstacles—and we know there will always be more to face.
We’ve been married for nearly 40 years and have rarely spent time apart. Yet, during the first year and a half of this journey, Pam lived in Excelsior Springs while Dale remained in St. Louis, traveling each weekend to help with the renovation while still working in Wentzville, Missouri. When Dale retired in June of 2025 and joined Pam full-time, it brought a whole new learning curve—adjusting once again to living and working side by side every day.
Bringing new ideas and concepts into a close-knit community has also presented its challenges. Change can be difficult, and introducing something new sometimes meets resistance. Pam has always believed strongly in being a change agent—encouraging others to think creatively, embrace fresh ideas, and grow together as a community. Despite the ups and downs, we’ve remained committed to building something meaningful, both for ourselves and for Excelsior Springs.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Huey’s Hidden Vault offers guests a comfortable place to relax, unwind, and connect through great conversation in a welcoming environment. Our beautiful back patio overlooks the historic Hall of Waters, providing the perfect setting to enjoy a cigar and sip on a craft cocktail or mocktail during Excelsior Springs’ beautiful evenings.
Whenever our doors are open, you’ll find Dale and Pam on site—ready to greet guests, share a story, and offer genuine hospitality. We take pride in providing personal service and authentic conversation—two things we believe are becoming lost arts.
Our experienced bartenders are always happy to craft a favorite menu item or create a special drink based on your preferences. We’re fortunate to have Cameron Shields as our lead bartender, along with Jena Eckel, who’s working closely with Cameron as she learns the trade.
A special shoutout to Calvin Gatlin, who helped us get started and still jumps in to lend a hand whenever we ask.
Our craft cocktail and mocktail menus change with the seasons, featuring both timeless classics and creative new concoctions made with our own house ingredients—like the fresh basil grown right on our patio.
What makes us proudest is the diverse community of patrons who choose to spend time here. At Huey’s Hidden Vault, everyone is welcome to pause, slow down, and enjoy a moment of quiet conversation and relaxation.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Looking back, it feels like we’ve grown up loving each other—we’ve been together since our early teens. From the start, we’ve shared the belief that hard work is the key to building the life you want.
Pam is the extrovert, while Dale is more of the introvert, and together we balance each other perfectly. Dale is a classic Type A personality who can bring to life just about any design idea Pam dreams up. Pam has the entrepreneurial spirit—always thinking outside the box and coming up with “crazy” new ideas, whether it was opening a bed and breakfast in Hermann or creating a bartique in Excelsior Springs.
Dale loves animals, the outdoors, and fast cars. Pam is passionate about design, creativity, and presentation. Together, we share a love for bringing old things back to life and creating spaces where people can connect and feel at home.
After 42 years with General Motors, Dale is now retired and enjoying this next chapter of life. Pam continues her 40-year nursing career—much of it spent as a kidney and liver transplant coordinator—and now works as a clinical advisor while also helping to run Huey’s Hidden Vault.
We’ve been blessed to combine our strengths, passions, and experiences into something we truly love—welcoming others into our dream.
