Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Wichman.
Hi Molly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
What started as a part-time college gig turned into a 20+ year passion. I have always been active, an athlete turned gym junkie, turned fitness professional. My passion is my profession. I started working at the Front Desk in a new fitness center…then never left. Worked through about every position at the gym, and moved onto my own fitness business. Seeing the fitness industry evolve over the past 20 years has been amazing to see from the professional and personal side of health & fitness.
Recently, I’ve evolved my approach by blending deep fitness expertise with professional health coaching skills—creating a powerful combination that addresses the whole YOU. I help clients take control of your weight loss, get your energy back & just feel better with easy workouts + nutrition for health. I help clients make long term sustainable changes to improve health with in person and online training.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey in the fitness industry has had twists and turns. Transitioning from fitness management to personal training was a mindset change, but in the most rewarding way. I personally help clients improve their health. This truly inspires me to work harder and help more clients. The joy is overwhelming.
While working in fitness I have seen businesses close, new fresh openings, new trends, industry friends unite and new doors open.
The health and fitness industry as a whole is up against a society based off convenience and easy fixes. Improving health takes a little time and work. I see the most success in clients when we work together to cater a new healthy lifestyle to fit into their current lifestyle. You don’t need hours in the gym and boring food every day, lets make it fun and sustainable, make it work, make it stick.
Three months ago I personally decided to make a change in business. I walked away from a business I spent 10+ years building and walked into a new studio with an old co-worker. This change has been amazing and allowed many doors to open in the Kansas City health and wellness community. Sometimes you have to look at where your business is, where it’s going, and where you want to be. If you see the need to change, make it happen. A year of change can do wonders for personal health and happiness. I appreciate my fitness community at Elite Personal Training for making this change a success and a feeling of welcoming.
We’ve been impressed with Molly Wichman, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I help clients who are feeling overwhelmed about where to begin their health journey. Whether they need to jumpstart, a new routine, or reignite their commitment to wellness, I’ll help create a sustainable healthy lifestyle that works for their unique needs.
Health and fitness isn’t one size fits all. In person and online training fit clients diverse needs. Creating customized programs to fit clients lifestyles is a learned skill. I take the approach of listening and relatability, combining Health Coaching and Personal Training into one program.
I first learn about and client, find out their WHY (why are the needing my help), take this information and my knowledge to make the best possible program for them to reach their goals, support them along the way, provide outsider knowledge that is relatable, and be malleable to make changes based of clients needs.
My clients learn to eat out, enjoy parties, have drinks, have fun with friends and family, all while living a healthy lifestyle. It’s about moderation and self control. Learn under my guidance, then spread your wings and do it on your own, this is my goal. I want each client to walk away healthier and happier than when I first met them.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore,” – William Faulkner.
This is a quote I have pined at my home office.
I believe in taking risks to better myself as a person and in business. My last year has held many more risks than the last 20 years. But, before I step out of my comfort zone, I fully research, educate and prepare myself for change. Now, I can go on moments notice to change, but I need to feel comfortable with the change and what is going on.
Risk can bring reward. If it starts to change in a direction you don’t like, get ahead of it and be malleable, make more changes.
