Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Cox.
Hi Meagan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my career in Corporate America, but quickly realized it wasn’t filling my cup. I wanted something more meaningful—something that allowed me to connect with people on a deeper level. That led me to launch my first business venture, delivering home-cooked meals and helping with meal prepping.
During that season, I also worked alongside my husband on several home-flipping projects. That’s where I discovered my true passion—renovation, building, and interior design. I loved watching a vision come to life and the joy it brought to those who got to experience it.
Taking a leap of faith, I decided to bet on myself and pursue real estate. In my very first year, I was honored to be named Newcomer of the Year by our local Board of Realtors—a recognition that confirmed I was right where I was meant to be.
And because I believe in bringing my whole self to the table, I still carry that first business with me today. When homeowners work with me to sell, they don’t just get a real estate agent—they get the comfort of home-cooked meals to make the transition a little easier during moving week!
Since then, I haven’t looked back. I truly love helping people understand the process of buying and selling homes while making the experience as smooth (and fun!) as possible. Along the way, many of my clients have become lifelong friends—and that’s the greatest reward of all.
In addition to real estate, I also am a co-owner of Cox Homes with my husband, which goes hand in hand, as we build, renovate and flip homes, along with our newest venture of roofing. I have also served as the Eudora Chamber of Commerce President for the last 3 years, which I have thoroughly enjoyed as a small business owner in my hometown of 30+ years!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without road bumps. Real estate will have you questioning yourself daily. The things they require you to study and test for are often far from the realities of the job—but that’s part of the growth. I’m still learning something new every day, and with each experience, I continue to evolve into a stronger, more resourceful agent for my clients.
We’ve been impressed with Meagan Cox, REALTOR® at Platinum Realty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I do is more than just selling houses—I educate buyers and sellers on the process, provide trusted vendor lists, and ensure every listing shines with professional photography, free staging, and paid advertising. I host open houses, negotiate fiercely for my clients, and keep things fun with an engaging social media presence. With local insight into the market and life here in Kansas, I’m here to make the real estate experience both seamless and enjoyable.
In addition to real estate, My husband, Lewis, and I own Cox Homes, a business he started in 2014 that has grown from building new homes and renovating to flipping—and most recently, roofing. As I launched my own ventures, I began helping more with the accounting, marketing, and social media side of things. Together, we make a great team—Lewis brings the craftsmanship, and I bring the design eye. And when the project calls for it, I’m never afraid to roll up my sleeves and get dirty right alongside him!
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons in being a real estate agent is that it’s a people-first business, not a property-first business.
Homes are the product, but relationships are what truly build success. Every client’s journey is different—full of emotions, questions, and unique needs—so listening, communicating clearly, and earning trust are just as important as knowing contracts and market trends. Deals may come and go, but the connections you build can turn into lifelong clients, referrals, and even friends.
