Hidden Gems: Meet Mark Whitlow of Office Products Alliance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Whitlow.

Hi Mark, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Office Products Alliance was started over 27 years ago in my garage with the vision of helping Kansas City both with their office supply needs and through community involvement. Over the years, OPA has grown into a culmination of 9 legacy Kansas City office supply companies with over 40 employees from those companies.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Does any small business have a smooth road? There’s been many different challenges over the last 27 years.

Many different economies, many different city/state/national crises. But we don’t focus on the struggles, we focus on having fun, being professional, and taking care of our customers.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Office Products Alliance?
Office Products Alliance would like everyone to know that we love Kansas City. We love our community. We support local as much as we can and we hope you do as well. OPA is known for its incredible sales team and fantastic customer service team who are all right here in Kansas City and answer the phone when you call. Our sales, customer service teams, and drivers go above and beyond to help our customers, which is so important and there isn’t enough of it these days. We offer office products, Jan/San products, office furniture, printers/toners, printer repair and servicing, and network cabling all right here in the Kansas City Crossroads.

What matters most to you?
Community, by far. Supporting other local companies and organizations, employing Kansas Citians.
