Hidden Gems: Meet Lisa Blumer of Leezil Graphics Marketing + Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Blumer.

Hi Lisa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always been surrounded by people with a multitude of talents and resourcefulness. To keep me occupied, my mother had a drawer in our kitchen with pencils, paper, crayons that was easily accessible. Being the only the girl in our family and neighborhood, I spent a lot of time by myself reading, drawing, and listening to music. I learned to read from the liner notes on albums, and since my dad was a musician, there was an assortment of albums to study.

Engrossed in all things media during the age of MTV, and I realized visuals and graphics were everywhere. I honestly cannot remember any time where I wasn’t involved in the creative process in some way. In high school, I was involved with painting murals, creating portraits, and drawings that lead me to art school and eventually a technical institute that specialized in production through print and multi-media.

My professional path isn’t formulated in a traditional sense. I am self-taught in web design, digital marketing, and the ever changing realm of social media, there’s always better ways to utilize marketing strategies for businesses.

For me, the most important thing is to make the connection person-to-person and learn the story to they want to tell.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My path has been diverse to say the least, and I have found myself in uncomfortable situations at times. Keeping pace with the constant changes in technology and processes is always a given, and there is the overwhelming number of programs that make it easy for anyone to put something together and call it a logo or branding. And with the expansion of AI into everything, I have to embrace it all in the name of growth.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been able to work with a multitude of different clients and services, and from each experience you take some insight as to what helps them succeed. Whether as a contractor, consultant, or a freelancer, you have to see yourself as a means to an end. You represent the client and the service or product they offer, and it should show in how you approach your work.

What sets me apart, is the fact that I will find out what needs to be done, and make it happen; like a worker bee, I keep things humming.

In time shortly after COVID, I was invited to be part of a committee to organize the NAMM Foundation’s Make Music Day here in Kansas City. It’s a global celebration held annually on June 21st (the Summer Solstice). Until this opportunity, I had never thought about what actually goes into promoting an event. I’ve been overseeing two of the events and I organize the venues, talent, marketing, and promotions of both. We’ve had so much success for Make Music Day Kansas City, other cities like St. Louis, MO and Lawrence, KS have set up celebrations for their cities.

I’m most proud of the brand identity that is rather small and giving it a global reach. I have one client that is a true Mom and Pop shop. Being able to create an identity for their company and their products from a small workshop in Kansas that is recognized across Europe for the quality they put into their musical instrument accessories is really quite humbling for me.

Overall, I want to be known for exceptional work and an ease of connecting with people.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
The thing that surprises people who know me is the diversity and depth of my work.
