Hidden Gems: Meet Lindsey Barnett of Lindsey Barnett Nutrition and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Barnett.

Hi Lindsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started teaching group fitness classes because I loved being active and wanted to share that passion with others. That eventually led to becoming a personal trainer and a 200 hr RYT, and I started my own studio when COVID-19 lockdowns closed everything down. I began to realize that there was a gap in people being able to reach their goals, so I certified as a Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner. This was not only a game-changer in my own health and wellness journey, but it has also been for others. As I continued to work with clients, I still noticed that many people had endured a lot of hardships and trauma that were holding them back or creating attachments to food and other habits. This created a deep-seated desire within me to return to graduate school, where I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling. I hope to establish a holistic practice that supports women from puberty through menopause and beyond.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has definitely not been smooth, but I don’t regret one thing because I know it has given me greater empathy for what my clients are experiencing. When the COVID-19 lockdown happened, I was working out of a gym as a trainer, and I had to quickly pivot by teaching online classes and start my own studio. I also had many struggles within my own health journey, which made me research and understand a lot of the same conditions women deal with daily, and understand what it’s like to have to make significant changes while also balancing a family and work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Lindsey Barnett Nutrition and Wellness holistically supports all women in their health and wellness journey. I offer personal training, nutrition counseling, and somatic yoga services. I am also certified in Postpartum Corrective Exercise, which supports the pelvic floor along with many other nutrition and exercise certifications. I take pride in understanding each of my clients’ unique needs and meeting them where they are in whatever season of life they find themselves. I am proud to say that I have clients who have been with me for several years, as I develop strong relationships and continue to grow and evolve alongside them.

How do you think about happiness?
I love the moment when everything starts to connect for my clients, where they begin to see that the small changes they have made along the way really add up to significant changes in their lives.

I also enjoy being a lifelong learner. I enjoy learning how nutrition and lifestyle can help change the landscape in women’s health.

I also enjoy being in nature and being with friends and family.
