Hi Kyonna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up with five sisters, and being the second oldest meant I was always helping with hair day. That early experience sparked my love for doing hair and showed me how something as simple as a hairstyle could make someone feel more confident.
When it came time to choose my career path, I knew college wasn’t the right fit for me. Instead, I followed my passion and enrolled in cosmetology school, where I was able to turn something I genuinely loved into a career.
Shortly after graduating, I became a mom to my oldest son. Today, I’m a proud mom of three amazing children, and they are my biggest motivation. They inspire me every day to work hard, continue growing, and build a business they’re proud of.
Being a hairstylist has allowed me to combine creativity with connection. I love helping my clients not only achieve healthy, beautiful hair but also leave my chair feeling confident and cared for. What started as helping my sisters has grown into a career that I’m truly passionate about, and I’m grateful every day that I chose this path.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Along the way, I’ve navigated becoming a mom, going through a divorce, rebuilding my life, and learning how to balance motherhood with growing my career. I’ve also experienced being away from family and changing salons when I realized they weren’t the right fit for my goals and the type of environment I wanted to work in.
Each challenge pushed me to grow personally and professionally. While those seasons weren’t easy, they taught me resilience, strengthened my confidence, and reminded me why I started. Looking back, I wouldn’t change any of it because every obstacle has helped shape the stylist, business owner, and person I am today.

My business is built around helping my clients look and feel their absolute best while maintaining the health of their hair. I specialize in blonding, silk presses, and precision short haircuts, and I love creating customized looks that fit each client’s lifestyle, personality, and hair goals. Whether someone wants a bright blonde transformation, a sleek and healthy silk press, or a fresh, confidence-boosting haircut, my focus is always on delivering beautiful results while prioritizing healthy hair.
What sets me apart is the experience I provide. I want every client to feel welcomed, heard, and cared for from the moment they sit in my chair. My chair is a place where people can relax, have genuine conversations, and leave feeling more confident than when they arrived. Building lasting relationships with my clients has become one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
Outside of the salon, I’ve also expanded my entrepreneurial journey by starting The Bagel Collection, a small in-home bagel business. It has become another creative outlet for me and a way to connect with people in a different way. Building something from the ground up while balancing my salon career and motherhood has been challenging, but it has also been incredibly rewarding. It has allowed me to continue growing as a business owner and follow another passion of mine.
Above all, I want people to know that my brands are built on quality, consistency, and genuine connection. Whether someone is sitting in my salon chair or enjoying one of my bagels, my goal is the same: to create an experience that feels thoughtful, personal, and leaves people feeling cared for.

You know I don’t think I explore Kansas City enough to have things I dislike about it honestly. I love Kansas City and the diversity here. There is always something to do here and it’s so central that it’s really easy to travel from here.
