Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie.
Hi Kylie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When I first learned about the concept of direct primary care (DPC), I was struck by how differently it approached medicine: personal, relationship-driven, and free from the pressures of the traditional insurance model. That idea resonated deeply with me. After researching everything I could and speaking with others who had made the transition, I decided to take a leap and founded Health Suite 110 in July 2015.
From the very beginning, my goal was to build a clinic that restores the heart of medicine — where physicians have the time and space to truly listen, understand, and partner with patients on their long-term health. We designed Health Suite 110 around those core values: intentionally small patient panels, extended and unhurried appointments, and open access so patients can call, text, or email their physician directly when they need us.
As we grew, we expanded our services to offer even more of what patients need in one place: an onsite wholesale pharmacy, discounted labs and imaging, in-house procedures, virtual visits, same-day appointments, and even occasional house calls. Our team also grew to include 4 board-certified family physicians, each committed to the same philosophy of transparent, relationship-based care.
Looking back, the journey has been about much more than starting a clinic — it has been about reimagining what health care can and should feel like. We’ve worked hard to show that people deserve a primary care experience that values them as human beings, not as numbers in a system. Today, Health Suite 110 continues to grow as a place where patients can expect care that is personal, accessible, and rooted in genuine trust and partnership.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been incredibly meaningful, but definitely not always smooth. Starting a clinic from scratch — especially one built on a model that was still unfamiliar to many people — required a lot of faith, resilience, and problem-solving. In the early days, some of the biggest challenges were simply educating the community about what direct primary care is and why it matters. Many people had never heard of the model, so explaining how it worked and how it could benefit them took time and patience.
As the practice grew, new challenges emerged. Managing steady growth while preserving the personal, relationship-based care that defines our clinic required careful planning. Recruiting physicians who share our philosophy, balancing patient panels, adjusting operations as demand increased, and maintaining accessible, high-quality care have all been ongoing areas of focus. Like any small business, we’ve had to navigate changing regulations, technology hurdles, staffing transitions, and the day-to-day realities of running a busy clinic.
COVID-19 brought an entirely new set of challenges. Overnight, we had to redesign how we delivered care while still maintaining accessibility and continuity for our patients. We implemented telemedicine, restructured office flow, created safe ways to provide in-person care when needed, and supported families who were navigating fear, isolation, and uncertainty. The pandemic tested every system we had — and it also reinforced the value of the DPC model. Because our patient panels are small and we know our patients well, we were able to stay responsive, available, and proactive during a time when many traditional clinics were overwhelmed.
There were also moments of uncertainty — times when it felt like building something innovative meant constantly swimming upstream against the traditional healthcare system. But every challenge reinforced why this work matters. Each time a patient tells us they feel heard, supported, or healthier because of our approach, it affirms that the difficult moments were part of creating something truly worthwhile.
What has carried us through is a combination of mission-driven determination, a supportive patient community, and a team of physicians and staff who believe deeply in the value of restoring authentic, accessible primary care. The road hasn’t always been smooth, but it has absolutely been worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Health Suite 110 is a direct primary care (DPC) clinic built around a simple idea: restoring the heart of medicine — one relationship at a time. Our mission guides every decision we make. We strive to serve as a beacon of wellness for our members and our community by providing comprehensive primary care that is uniquely personalized and easily accessible. We work to re-establish the doctor–patient relationship as it was meant to be — built on trust, communication, and mutual respect. We are committed to practicing with integrity and honesty, offering transparent pricing, and creating a collaborative environment where physicians can truly honor their calling to do no harm. And we aim to cultivate a culture of wellness, leading by example in healthy lifestyle choices and environmental stewardship.
Our membership-based model allows us to deliver care that reflects those values every day. With longer appointment times, smaller patient panels, same- or next-day access, direct communication with your physician, an onsite wholesale pharmacy, discounted labs, in-office procedures, and virtual care, we’re able to provide an experience that feels personal, supportive, and comprehensive. Patients join our clinic because they want meaningful, relationship-driven healthcare — and that is exactly what we specialize in.
A defining strength of Health Suite 110 is our exceptional team of physicians. Our clinic is home to four board-certified family medicine physicians — myself, Dr. Charles Willnauer, Dr. Jennifer Teegarden, and Dr. Megan Groves — who work in the clinic every day and are united by a shared commitment to thoughtful, patient-centered care. We’re also fortunate to have the support of Dr. Allison Edwards, a trusted colleague who steps in to help cover the clinic when needed. Together, we take pride in being leaders within the Direct Primary Care community, mentoring colleagues and helping advance this growing model of care.
Equally essential to who we are is our extraordinary nursing team. Nurse Laura, who will celebrate an impressive 10 years with us in January 2026, has been foundational in shaping the warm, supportive culture our patients experience. Meredith, with us just over a year, and Sandra, nearing two years on our team, bring their own strengths, compassion, and professionalism to the clinic each day. Their dedication, skill, and genuine kindness are a huge part of what makes Health Suite 110 feel like home to so many of our patients.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we’ve built a clinic rooted in authenticity, transparency, and truly personalized care. In a healthcare landscape that can feel rushed, confusing, and impersonal, we’ve created a place where patients feel heard, cared for, and valued as individuals. We want readers to know that primary care can look and feel different — it can be accessible, relational, transparent, and grounded in the simple humanity that drew us all to medicine in the first place.
Everything we offer — from the way we structure our membership, to the services we include, to the relationships we build — reflects our mission. It’s at the heart of who we are, and it’s what sets Health Suite 110 apart.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of the things I love most about Kansas City is that it still feels like a big small town. People are genuinely friendly, supportive, and proud of their community. There’s a strong sense of connection here — you can build real relationships with your neighbors, local businesses, and fellow professionals in a way that feels authentic and approachable.
We also have incredible recreational opportunities. My family loves spending time on the Blue River trails, exploring parks, and enjoying the outdoors. And Kansas City’s arts, culture, and sports scene is such a gift — from cheering on the KC Current to attending shows at Starlight, we love supporting the vibrant energy that makes this city special.
As for what I like least, I’d say that Kansas City is still a work in progress when it comes to equitable infrastructure and community resources. There are areas where continued investment, connectivity, and support would make a tremendous difference. The potential is there — and I’m hopeful that as our city grows, we’ll keep striving to make every neighborhood feel as welcoming and supported as the parts we know and love.
