Hidden Gems: Meet Kenichi Ota of KC Craft Ramen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenichi Ota.

Hi Kenichi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a passion for ramen. I came to the U.S. in 2004 and worked at a Japanese supermarket for 10 years, during which time I made and sold ramen, attracted customers, and engaged in other related activities.
I was more than happy to hear people say how delicious the ramen I made was!
In 2016, I opened the first ramen restaurant, but I had to leave the restaurant due to visa reasons and left the U.S . for a year. After returning to the U.S from Japan., I contemplated how I could spread delicious ramen throughout the country. I decided that the fastest way to achieve this was to increase the number of ramen shops serving delicious ramen. As a consultant, I have been independent for six years and have supported more than 20 ramen stores, increasing the number of stores serving delicious ramen. Now, I am ready to open my own ramen store, where I can incorporate all of my knowledge and create a restaurant where people will be pleased. I chose Kansas as the location from all over the U.S.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I researched all over the U.S., and when I first came to Kansas, I thought it was the best place to live, and I came across my current property first. I thought it was fate! It was love at first sight. Since this was my first time opening a restaurant, I had a lot of trouble with the real estate contract, especially with the construction. Construction did not proceed as expected and the situation was terrible., So that is why I went to the site every day to paint, hang ceilings, and work with them to get the work done as quickly as possible! I thought the end would never come.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about KC Craft Ramen?
We serve ramen, the soul food of the Japanese people. There are wide varieties of ramen and many ways to make it. We go beyond authenticity and offer dishes that are almost everything handmade and prepared in our restaurant. In particular, the soup, noodles, and dumplings made with special equipment are fresh and exceptional at the store! It would be difficult for any restaurant to make them with such attention to detail! We offer real ramen and real deliciousness!
