Hidden Gems: Meet Katie Garcia of Gather Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Garcia. 

Hi Katie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a fresh-faced college graduate, I knew I always wanted to start my own digital biz. It took me 10+ years of gaining experience, learning, and growing, but the dream came together. You know when they say don’t give up on your daydream…I didn’t and founded Gather Media Co.! 

Fast forward to NOW, Gather Media Co. made up of a bunch of what I like to call, marketing know-it-alls 😉! Our team has 30+ years of marketing experience, but our specialty is the digital landscape. In particular, we have honed our social media, paid social, website building, and reputation management skills to expert. 

I graduated from the University of Kansas with dual majors in Journalism and Spanish! I truly got my start serving as a Student Information Officer for the Kansas Athletics Department. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I started Gather Media Co. one month before the world went into lockdown! I thought to myself “what I have I done.” I had just left an amazing PR job to follow my dreams and I thought I was going to have to beg for my job back. However, what I found out in the months to come that my clients needed more communication help than ever before. I helped my clients navigate digital meetings, launching new products, and rolling out covid protocols. 

We’ve been impressed with Gather Media Co., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Gather Media Co. specializes in social media management, paid social, website building, Google Ads management, and reputation management. We’ve navigated the tumultuous waters of viral employee racism, responded to over 1 million reviews (both in English and Spanish), cultivated audiences, crafted so many social media posts we honestly stopped counting, strategized, and spent millions on digital ads and SO. MUCH. MORE. 

We serve many different kinds of brands from cities to restaurants to corporate learning clients! 

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
When I was little, I loved playing sports and being active! I credit a lot of my work ethic to sports. Most days you could find me on the soccer field or at gymnastic practice. I remember going in my basement and doing 100 back-flips one night because I was seeking perfection. Fast forward to now, this work ethic and skill-building work has directly translated to how I run my business! Plus, I still love being active…taking walks with my family, hitting the gym, running with by dog!
