Hidden Gems: Meet Josh Johnson of Heyoka Tattoo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Johnson

Hi Josh, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 1990, I ran away from home and got taken under the wing of a lady named Martha ‘Fay’ Balch who taught me how to tattoo at a very young age. Worked all throughout the US and Canada

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been very smooth

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are well known for our clean, homey environment and our unique shop atmosphere. We placed Silver in the 2024 Best of Southwest Missouri contest for tattoo shops. We offer private rooms versus an open studio layout for a more comfortable experience. Everyone who works in the shop has been personally trained and apprenticed by me, so we run a tight knit shop. We offer a variety of styles, specialize in coverups, and soon we will be offering PMU tattooing (permanent cosmetics).
