Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Scott.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Here is my bio:
Joey was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He began his career at Northwestern Mutual as a college intern in 2016. He attended Northwest Missouri State University and was an aspiring ophthalmologist at the time. At eighteen years old he was referred into the program by one of his close friends and teammates on the baseball team. He soon quickly learned that he was able to help doctors instead of becoming one himself. Upon graduating college in 2018, he began his full time career in the downtown Kansas City office.
As an intern, he is a two-time summer and winter camp qualifier. Achieved Target 20 twice, and Impact 40. His last full year awards year as an intern, he finished as the #19 intern company wide, and finished 2nd in the company’s regional year in 2018. While in college he completed his Life & Health, Series 6, and 63 exams. As a full time advisor, he achieved pacesetter first 40, second 60, top honors for The Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, MDRT every year, and Lives Leader Summit three times. In addition, he has completed his series 7, ChFC, and RICP designations. As a College Unit Director, he has finished top 20 in the company back-to-back years and in 2023 he finished #1 CUD in the company while leading the #1 internship office out of KC. In 2025 he was recognized by Forbes as one of the top advisors in the state of Missouri and was recognized in Ingram’s magazine 20 in their 20s. He currently continues to lead a financial planning practice under the Priority Wealth Partners DBA and oversees the entire office in Kansas City as the District Director.
Joey currently resides in Kansas City and his growing his practice every day with his team. The strategic partnership with Northwestern Mutual has allowed him to lead and be the center of his client’s financial lives. Outside of building a business, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, exercising, playing sports, cheering on all of Kansas City’s sports teams and relaxing by a body of water.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been some really big highlights, but also plenty of adversity. A few examples: navigating client acquisition to his big goals, staffing and leveraging people to help our achievements, not having the right team in place, taking business/ financial risk and re-investing back into the business, leadership changes, industry changes, etc.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Priority Wealth Partners ?
This is the current DBA, but we are going to merge and be names a successor to another advisor we are connected to. Currently we are a team of 5 serving clients across the country in various industries, pre- retirees, and business owners. We specialize in comprehensive financial planning, wealth management, and tax strategy planning. We pride ourselves in high level expertise solving complex problems. We also lead with our clients first and win on service. We have achieved many accolades including recognition from FORBES rankings. We are also leaders in our organization and set the standard on what great looks like. Our mission is to help clients be on track to hit their personal and financial goals and hold them accountable to making their dreams a reality.
