Hidden Gems: Meet Jennifer Wilson of Beauty in Motion, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Wilson

Jennifer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a nurse. I had some medical issues as a child and spent quite a bit of time in the doctor’s office and hospital. I remembered how the nurses made me feel safe and knew that’s what I wanted to do when I grew up! I graduated nursing school and started to work in the neonatal ICU. I loved it so much I continued on to become a nurse practitioner. As an RN/ARNP with 28 years’ experience in neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric care, I have seen the continuum of healthcare change over the years. This helped me realize my passion is helping people make informed decisions and understand all their options. After working in a corporate healthcare setting for over 10 years, the desire to deliver direct patient care became stronger.

I started getting neurotoxin treatments and realized the huge impact it had on my self-esteem and confidence. I no longer looked exhausted! But the appointments were so rushed, I didn’t like not fully understanding how the product worked or what all of my options were. As a lifelong learner and someone who likes a good challenge, when the opportunity presented to learn more about aesthetics, I took the leap! I love to travel so I headed to Florida for training.

After obtaining certification for neurotoxins and dermal fillers, I continued to learn more about aesthetics at a local medical spa. I decided to start Beauty in Motion to exclusively focus on neurotoxin treatments and spend more time with patients educating and creating customized treatment plans.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Becoming a business owner in today’s world comes with challenges for sure. Getting certified in neurotoxins was exciting and interesting. The next step was finding a medical director to partner with; luckily, I was connected with someone who believed in my abilities and vision to create Beauty in Motion.

It’s scary leaving a secure career you’ve had for several years, with a regular paycheck, to start a business from scratch. With a limited business and marketing background, I spent many nights learning how to create a business plan, develop social media marketing campaigns, and expand my network with similar industry partners. I’ve struggled from time to time to “trust the process”. Growing a new business and establishing clientele in a competitive market like Kansas City can be discouraging, but my drive to make Beauty in Motion succeed is larger than any challenge I endure.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Beauty in Motion focuses on the patient experience. People want aesthetic treatments but struggle with finding time to get away. One of the benefits with my business is flexibility. What sets me apart from others is I am a mobile business – I can come to you OR you can come to me at my space in South Overland Park. I also collaborate with local salons and businesses to provide “Tox Days” at their location, which includes on-site treatments on a designated day for their clients only. Recently, I provided services at an in-home “Tox Party” with eight women who were all friends. None of the women had received neurotoxin injections previously. We spent time discussing the benefits, risks and actions of Jeuveau while catering to each individual’s need. All eight women felt comfortable enough after our discussions to proceed with my treatment plan. In fact, they have all scheduled their next round of treatment!

I exclusively offer Jeuveau due to it’s precision, fast-acting nature (in some as little as 2 days) and natural looking results, which is key to good neurotoxin treatment.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The aesthetic industry is ever-changing. Injection techniques and use for toxins are undergoing extensive research, resulting in better outcomes for the patients. The market continues to develop more effective and longer-lasting products to remain competitive and deliver high-end results.

Neurotoxin treatments have gained popularity over the past few years and will only continue to grow. The desire for quick and easy ways to improve appearance and confidence will continue to surge over the next several years.
