Hidden Gems: Meet Hilary Shoemaker of Absolute Aesthetics & Wellness LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hilary Shoemaker.

Hi Hilary, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
After high school, I worked for a doctor who started a Medical Spa. I began working in the Med Spa as the receptionist. It was exciting and fun to watch it develop and grow. I enjoyed learning about the procedures along with interactions/relationships made with the clients. I continued to work there while obtaining my bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). After graduating with my BSN, I worked on a cardiovascular thoracic step-down unit. Eventually, I received my master of science in nursing (MSN) from the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC). I worked as a Nurse Practitioner in a primary care practice for the last four years but have always wanted to return to a Medical Spa setting. Last year, my brother-in-law, Chad Shoemaker, approached me with the opportunity to open a Medical Spa in Platte City, MO, with my sister-in-law, Tiffanee. We decided to move forward with this adventure and are thankful we did. I began to research and train current Medical Spa procedures and services and met with other Medical Spas for advice. We found a great location in Platte City and renovated it into a beautiful Medical Spa where we offer many different services.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It’s been a labor of love to set up the Med Spa. It has truly amazed me how smooth the process has been. As doors open, it further affirms our beliefs that we are headed in the right direction. In addition, working with Tiffanee has been such a great experience. Although we have been in a family together for many years, we are getting to know one another on a professional level now. We each have our strengths, and she has been amazing in finding the location and renovating the area. Tiffanee manages the company’s business aspect, allowing me to focus on the procedures and products. We both have high expectations regarding customer service and share the same philosophy on quality. We have experienced nearly all of the services we provide, so we are familiar with them and know the outcomes our clients desire. We want to help others achieve their best selves. We want them to feel as beautiful inside and out.

We officially opened Absolute Aesthetics & Wellness in January 2023. We offer various services that set us apart from the average spa or medical spa. Some of our services include custom facials, Hydrafacials, Botox, dermal fillers, eyelashes, laser hair removal, vaginal rejuvenation, IV nutrition, medically supervised weight loss, etc. We have a great team that includes a wonderful esthetician who is very knowledgeable. What sets us apart is that we are a family-owned business. Our goal is that when you walk into Absolute Aesthetics & Wellness, you are comfortable and have an amazing experience. We are learning and growing daily and take pride in providing high-quality experiences to clients who walk through the door. Absolute Aesthetics & Wellness is about a holistic approach to well-being. Helping our clients take care of sometimes very personal issues is what we strive for. Holding their hand through services that may increase their self-esteem and well-being or give them time to relax and unwind from stressful, busy lives is one of the reasons we started the Med Spa. We are an absolute one-stop shop for a friendly smile, professional service, hot tea, and some time to rest and rejuvenate.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I currently live on a farm with my husband, Cameron. We have sheep, goats, chickens, and a horse. Additionally, Cameron works as a police officer. We have an extensive support system on both sides of our family as we’ve juggled our busy lives with the day-to-day tasks of setting up the business. We recently took Guardianship of our 16-year-old foster daughter and had three biological children, ages 7, 5, and 2.
