Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Esther Levy-Bremer, DACM, L.Ac.
Hi Dr. Esther, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My journey to acupuncture began while on the Israeli national fencing team. Despite numerous tests, I started experiencing intense muscle pain that left countless Western medical doctors puzzled. Their only solution was pain medication, which I refused to take due to the associated risks. Determined to find a better way to manage my pain, I discovered the fantastic world of Chinese medicine. After four treatments, my pain vanished, and I knew I had to learn more. I’ve been practicing acupuncture for nearly two decades now. My education began in Jerusalem, Israel, continued with an internship at the Chengdu Hospital in China, and culminated in a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, CA. Back in Jerusalem, I teamed up with two colleagues to open one of the country’s first community acupuncture centers. We trained over 20 practitioners nationwide and provided our patients with more affordable treatment options, enabling them to attend sessions as frequently as needed. 2014 I moved to the US after getting married and started my practice in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to my practice, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I got pregnant with my firstborn, Tamar. This pregnancy led me to found ‘Belly Treasures,’ a company offering specialized products for expecting mothers and those in their postpartum stage, utilizing my extensive herbal knowledge and experience. In 2021, Our family later relocated to Lawrence, KS, to be closer to our loved ones, and I continued my practice there, in addition to working on developing Belly Treasures. I am passionate about working with people of all ages and addressing various concerns, including chronic pain management, internal issues such as poor digestion, skin rejuvenation, and especially women’s health and fertility, and menopause through applying acupuncture and nutritional guidance.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Transitioning from Israel to the U.S. was quite the adventure, not just because of the language differences. I also had to navigate the unique intricacies of the American health system and medical billing process, a far cry from what I was accustomed to. Moreover, moving to Lawrence, where no one knew me, added an extra challenge as I had to start from scratch and rebuild my practice again.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I have two decades of clinical experience and a passion for helping others achieve optimal health and wellness. At EsTherapy Acupuncture Clinic, I offer acupuncture treatments, herbal medicine, nutritional and lifestyle guidance, electro-acupuncture, and cupping therapies to improve circulation, promote relaxation, and support the body’s natural healing process. My main goal is to help my clients achieve a balanced and harmonious state of being, both physically and mentally. The personalized approach to each individual’s needs and my vast clinical experience set my clinic apart. Every person’s body and health concerns are unique, so I listen closely and tailor the treatments to meet those needs. I ensure that my clients feel comfortable and well-informed throughout the treatment process. Many patients arrive for pain relief, poor digestion, women’s health and fertility support, chronic migraines, and seasonal allergies. I see that proper health and wellness go beyond just treating symptoms, so I strive to educate my clients on maintaining a healthy lifestyle for long-term well-being.
Any big plans?
In the future, I’m looking forward to helping as many people as possible to explore the wide range of options they have to manage and prevent their existing health issues. I aim to empower our community by spreading the word about leading an active and fulfilling life using natural methods. I’m excited about the prospect of growing my clinic, which would mean offering even more people access to the excellent benefits of natural and preventative medicine in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Where I come from, there are acupuncture departments in all the major hospitals- delivery rooms and even the ERs! It’s my dream to provide the best support I can to everyone who needs it, and I can’t wait to make it a reality!
