Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr Brad Woodle.
Hi Dr Brad, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story starts with my dad. He was an automotive machinist, and years of physically demanding work took a serious toll on his back. Chiropractic care helped him keep working and remain active without having back surgery. To me, the most meaningful part was that he could still play baseball and wrestle with us kids. Seeing what that meant for our family shaped my appreciation for chiropractic and the difference it can make in someone’s life.
That experience helped inspire the vision behind Advanced Sports & Family Chiropractic + Acupuncture: helping people feel better, move better, and stay involved in the things they love. I wanted to build a practice where people feel heard, understand their care, and have a team committed to finding meaningful solutions.
We especially enjoy taking on difficult cases and working toward real corrective solutions. We take time to look deeper, identify what may be contributing to an ongoing problem, and develop personalized plans aimed at lasting improvements in movement, strength, and function.
Over the past 18 years, that vision has grown into nine ASFCA locations throughout the Kansas City area. We have expanded our team and services to include chiropractic care, acupuncture, rehabilitation, and additional treatment options that help us tailor care to each person’s needs. Our name reflects the people we serve—from competitive athletes to parents, children, and grandparents.
Chiropractic is also a family calling. Both my wife, Christina, and my brother are chiropractors here in the city. Christina leads her own separate practice, Mommy and Me Family Chiropractic and Drew is a leader in ASFCA. It is special to share a profession with family and see the different ways we can contribute to our community.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been watching our doctors and staff grow into leaders who share our commitment to patients. As a husband and father myself, I still think about what chiropractic meant for my dad and our family. Helping someone keep working, return to a sport, or get down on the floor to play with their children is what makes this work meaningful to me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a rewarding journey, but it certainly has not always been a smooth road. Growing to nine locations has challenged us to become better leaders, build stronger systems, and stay intentional about the experience we want every patient to have.
One of our biggest challenges has been finding and developing the right team. We set a high standard for what we call “WOW” customer service. We want people to feel welcomed, listened to, and genuinely cared for—from their first phone call through every step of their care. That takes clinical skill, compassion, clear communication, and consistent follow-through. Hiring people who share those values, investing in their training, and maintaining that standard across every location requires ongoing attention.
Another challenge is navigating insurance. In our experience, coverage decisions can favor lower-cost, short-term options, while a more comprehensive plan focused on rehabilitation and correcting underlying functional problems may have limited coverage. That can create a frustrating gap between the care we recommend and what a patient’s insurance will help pay for.
Our responsibility is to explain our recommendations, be transparent about costs and coverage, and help patients make informed choices. We want treatment decisions to reflect each person’s needs and goals, with a focus on meaningful, lasting improvement.
Those challenges have reinforced how much a strong team and patient trust matter. Growth has required us to keep learning, but our commitment to taking excellent care of people has remained the foundation.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Advanced Sports & Family Chiropractic + Acupuncture is a family and performance focused practice with nine locations throughout the Kansas City area. We help people address pain, improve movement, recover from injuries, and stay active through personalized care. Our patients include athletes, busy parents, children, grandparents, and people whose work places daily demands on their bodies.
Our services include chiropractic care, acupuncture, rehabilitation, spinal decompression, shockwave therapy, and laser therapy to name a few. Having a range of treatment options allows us to build a plan around the individual—their condition, goals, and response to care.
We especially enjoy taking on difficult cases, including people who have struggled with persistent problems and are looking for a more thorough evaluation and a clear path forward. Our approach to corrective care focuses on identifying contributing factors, improving strength and mobility, and giving patients practical tools to maintain their progress. We want people to understand both what we recommend and why.
What sets us apart is the combination of that clinical approach and our commitment to “WOW” customer service. To us, that means a welcoming voice on the phone, a team that listens, clear explanations, and thoughtful follow-through. We want every patient to feel that their concerns matter and that their care is personal.
What I am most proud of is the team and culture behind our brand. Growing to nine locations is meaningful because it allows us to serve more communities, but the real accomplishment is building a team that shares a commitment to treating people with kindness, respect, and attention to detail.
Above all, we want readers to know that they do not have to be an athlete to come to Advanced Sports & Family Chiropractic + Acupuncture. Whether your goal is returning to competition, getting through a workday more comfortably, or playing with your children, we want to help you move toward it.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I would say the most important quality is caring deeply—and following through on that care. Compassion shapes how we listen, how thoroughly we evaluate a problem, and how committed we remain when a case is challenging.
That is the foundation of our “WOW” customer service. We want people to feel heard, understand their options, and know that our team is invested in their progress. Sometimes that means taking extra time to explain something, adjusting our approach, or recognizing that another provider should be involved.
As a leader, I believe that same commitment has to extend to our employees. Setting clear expectations, supporting their development, and leading by example are essential to building a team that consistently takes great care of people.
Ultimately, our success depends on trust, and trust is earned through the small things we do consistently, every day.
