Hidden Gems: Meet Dominic Franco of Dominate Technique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Franco.

Hi Dominic, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Long before I started Dominate Technique, I had felt that there was something missing from my life that I knew I had to find. I grew up dancing since the age of 9 and never doubted that dance would forever be my entire life.

After graduating college with a performing arts degree, I had moved to Los Angeles where I went on to perform professionally for over 2 years. I had an opportunity to move to Kansas City in the summer of 2020 after accepting a job with the Kansas City Chiefs which is when the story of Dominate Technique came to life.

After a year of being an active teacher/mentor in the Kansas City dance community, I found myself wanting to give more training opportunities to the young dancers of today. Having a strong background in both studio and dance team training, I wanted to provide dancers an opportunity to continue their training in hopes to pursue whatever dance goals they have for themselves in the future.

This was the reason for the building of Dominate Technique! I now have incredible opportunities to work with many talented dancers around the Kansas City Metro. I would not be where I am today without the incredible support of all the dancers and parents of Kansas City!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every journey has its ups and downs. While I have been very lucky with all the incredible wins of being a small business owner, the road to success never comes without sacrifices. One major struggle was getting the name of Dominate Technique out to the public. There may always be hesitancy from people towards the unknown.

However, I kept pushing to make sure that the name of the company was a name that people knew and trusted. Through the ups and downs, I have been so thankful and grateful for the journey that has gotten me to where I am today!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Dominate Technique is a dance training company that focuses on helping the dancer gain advanced technical training through the basics of understanding self-body awareness and control. We specialize in breaking down dance techniques from the ground up and helping the dancers gain confidence in their dancing.

Something that sets us apart from others is that we are not a physical space or studio. Since we are not a physical place, we are able to travel anywhere in the world to dance with as many dancers as possible. Another major thing that sets us apart is that we focus solely on technique and training rather than performance. This helps the dancer gain the advanced skills/training necessary in order to feel confident in the dance world of today!

What we are most proud of in our company is the ability to not only offer a dance service but also provide a positive experience in which dancers can gain confidence, life skills, and so much more that goes beyond dancing!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
One major thing I would tell anyone who is out there and just starting out is to be fearless and listen to that passion inside that is willing to take those risks. Know that there will be bumps in the road but it is all worth it to be able to do what you love!
