Today we’d like to introduce you to David Schieffer.
Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My career has always centered on helping organizations perform better. Before launching StrongSage, I spent years in senior leadership roles helping large, complex organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, improve performance, navigate challenges, and execute more effectively. That experience taught me how much strong decision-making depends on clarity, discipline, and the ability to turn complexity into action.
Over time, I realized something important. The same strategic thinking, operational discipline, and financial insight that help large organizations succeed can be just as powerful for small businesses. In many cases, business owners need that support even more, because they are making critical decisions without the layers of resources and infrastructure that larger companies have.
That realization is what led me to found StrongSage. I wanted to take the skills and perspective I had developed in big-company environments and bring them to small businesses, especially here in the Kansas City area, in a way that is practical, accessible, and results-oriented. StrongSage was created to help business owners gain financial clarity, strengthen their operations, and move forward with greater confidence.
What brought me here was also personal. After a long career inside larger organizations, I wanted my work to be more direct, more meaningful, and more closely connected to the people and businesses I serve. I wanted to work alongside owners who have built something real and who need a trusted partner to help bring order, insight, and momentum to the next stage of their growth.
Today, StrongSage reflects that mission. It is where strategy meets action. My work is about helping small businesses benefit from the same level of thoughtful guidance, structure, and strategic support that larger companies rely on, but delivered in a way that fits their size, goals, and reality.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a completely smooth road, but I think that is part of starting anything meaningful.
One of the biggest adjustments was going from a large corporate environment to building something of my own. In a larger organization, there are teams, systems, and infrastructure already in place. When you start your own business, you are suddenly responsible for all of it. You are not just doing the work. You are also building the brand, creating momentum, developing relationships, and figuring out how to grow something from the ground up.
Another challenge has been taking a background that was built helping large, sophisticated organizations succeed and translating that into something that feels accessible and relevant for small business owners. I know the value this experience can bring, but part of the journey has been making sure StrongSage communicates that clearly and delivers it in a way that meets business owners where they are.
There is also a very personal side to entrepreneurship. Starting over in a new way requires patience, humility, and a willingness to keep going even when the path is not perfectly clear. You have to trust your experience, stay flexible, and be willing to learn in real time.
That said, the challenges have also been the most rewarding part. They have forced me to get sharper, more focused, and more intentional about the kind of business I want to build and the kind of impact I want to have, especially here in the Kansas City area.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
StrongSage helps small business owners gain clarity, control, and confidence in their business. At its core, the business is about turning complexity into practical action. That can mean helping an owner better understand their financials, strengthening operational discipline, improving decision-making, or simply bringing more structure and visibility to a business that has grown fast and needs a stronger foundation.
What sets StrongSage apart is the perspective behind it. My background was built helping large, complex organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, improve performance and make smarter decisions. With StrongSage, I bring that same level of strategic thinking, operational discipline, and business insight to small businesses, but in a way that is practical, personal, and grounded in the realities they face every day.
I am especially passionate about working with owners who are good at what they do but may not always have the time, tools, or support to step back and see the full picture. Many small businesses do not need more noise. They need better clarity, better information, and a trusted partner who can help them move forward.
Brand-wise, what I am most proud of is that StrongSage reflects exactly how I want to serve people. The name speaks to both strength and wisdom, and the tagline, “Where Strategy Meets Action,” captures the heart of the business. I do not believe in advice that just sounds good. I believe in helping clients make real progress.
If there is one thing I would want readers to know, it is that StrongSage was built to give small business owners access to the kind of thoughtful guidance and practical support that is often reserved for much larger companies. My goal is to help businesses in Kansas City and beyond operate with more clarity, make better decisions, and build something stronger over time.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would just add that starting StrongSage has been a very intentional step for me. It is the result of years of experience, but also a real desire to do work that is practical, personal, and meaningful.
I have seen firsthand how much pressure business owners carry. They are making decisions every day that affect their employees, their families, and their future. That is why I take this work seriously. My goal is not just to provide a service. It is to help bring clarity, confidence, and momentum to people who are building something important.
I also care deeply about the Kansas City business community. There are a lot of smart, hardworking people here building great companies, and I am excited to support that through StrongSage, not only by serving clients, but by being part of a broader effort to strengthen the local business community.
Giving back matters to me as well. I am proud to mentor inner-city entrepreneurs and to serve on the board of Team Fidelis, a veteran support organization, because I believe business success should create a broader positive impact in the community.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that StrongSage is built on trust, practical insight, and a genuine commitment to helping businesses and the community move forward.
