Hidden Gems: Meet Christian Talley of Hassle Free Outdoor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Talley.

Hi Christian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Christian Talley started, Hassle Free Lawns, lawn mowing business during his freshman year of high school in 2014. He quickly fell in love with the work and the industry at a young age, growing the business steadily throughout high school.

In 2019, during his freshman year of college, Christian had the opportunity to acquire an existing business — a move that nearly doubled the client base overnight.

Blake Frischer, a lifelong family friend of Christian’s, became a part owner during that acquisition. Blake has been instrumental in the growth of the Landscape/Hardscape and Outdoor Living division, which has become a cornerstone of what we do today.

Over the past six years, Blake and Christian have worked side by side to grow both the commercial and residential maintenance services, as well as the hardscape construction side of the business, into what it is today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any small business journey, ours hasn’t been without its challenges. We’ve navigated our fair share of obstacles — from the uncertainty of COVID-19, to the ongoing struggles of finding and keeping great employees. We’ve dealt with equipment breakdowns, theft, and the stress of those long days that turn into even longer nights.

There were moments we weren’t sure which path was the right one. But through it all, our commitment to quality, our clients, and each other never wavered. Every setback became a lesson — and every lesson helped shape the business we’ve built today.

Hassle Free Outdoor is a full-service lawn, landscape, and outdoor living company based in Overland Park, Kansas, serving surrounding communities like Leawood, Olathe, Prairie Village, Mission Hills, Parkville, Liberty and North Kansas City. We specialize in high-end residential landscaping, Commercial ground maintenance, outdoor living spaces, irrigation systems, lighting, and year-round property care. Whether it’s a fresh mulch install, a precision irrigation repair, or a full backyard transformation, we help our clients fall in love with their outdoor space.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What we like best about being based in the Kansas City area is the variety of landscapes and unique opportunities the region offers. From rolling properties in Mission Hills to tight urban spaces in Prairie Village and sprawling commercial campuses in Olathe, every job is a little different — and we love the challenge of bringing out the best in each one. The diversity of properties keeps our work creative and rewarding, and it’s allowed us to develop a truly versatile team that can handle everything from weekly maintenance to complex outdoor renovations.
