Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Needham.
Hi Cassie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am the Operations and HR Manager for ZipKC, KC Timber Challenge, and Exiled! I’ve worked here since 2016, but We’ve been a zip line park since 2013! I started here as a tour guide in college and have grown alongside the company. We used to be a one shed, unknown stop at the end of the road. But now we are a thriving Kansas City destination with a Mud Run Obstacle Course series, Professional Haunted Hike, a Mobile Zip line, Mobile Ninja Obstacle Course, and now we have TWO sheds!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been easy! Zip was at a breaking point before we partnered with KC Timber Challenge. The obstacle course brought tons of people to the park and gave us some much needed recognition. Besides that, we regularly struggle with the weather! Sometimes mother nature decides we aren’t zipping that day, despite our plans.
Me personally? I fight mosquitos every day, and I regularly lose.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a Zipline Park that also hosts OCR Races and a Haunted Trail in October. Our park is on bluffs of the scenic Kansas River. When you Zipline with us, it is a true experience. Our lines reach speeds of up to 50MPH and span approximately one mile all together. Our guides are top-notch and make everyone feel right at home. Our Timber Challenge events are obstacle course races we hold throughout the year. If big events aren’t your thing, you can take a personal Ninja Training Obstacle tour, where you will hike 2 miles of trails and tackle various obstacles from the Challenges.
Exiled Trail of Terrors is not for the faint of heart! In the pitch black or night, brave our trails!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Spotify’s Best of the 90’s playlist gets us through our day-to-day. But me personally? Anything that makes me laugh. My job, as well as everyone’s at ZipKC is to entertain. To make sure that people have the time of their life and experience a fun outdoor excursion. So if the Tour Guides aren’t upbeat, then the guests won’t be either. We are all laughing out here all the time. Which, now that I think about it, sounds a little creepy. But it’s not. I promise.
