Hidden Gems: Meet Caitlin Elias, Co-Founder and Chief of Organization

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Elias.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I have been in the healthcare industry for 13 years. During this time, I’ve held various roles, from hospice nursing to working at a birthing center, and also supported women through pregnancy, postpartum, and lactation. I helped develop a robust maternity program/offering for a local Fortune 500 company counseling employees and helping with employee policy. I was there for 5 years before stepping away to focus more on TrackMy, the company I co-founded with my husband, Jeremy. When I started working in healthcare on the clinical side, I always was a “questioner.” Why is this outcome happening often? How can we make this easier? Why does documentation require 10 steps instead of 2. Why are patients calling for their health information instead of having access to it? Why did this provider not give this information to the patient in the first place? Patients deserve better access to their health data.

In 2017, a family friend was impacted by a recalled medical device that unfortunately took his life. With my husband’s regulatory consulting background and my clinical experience, we knew we had this data to alert a patient of said recall, but why hadn’t it been done? We feverishly searched the patent database and realized no one was alerting the patient directly. TrackMy Implants was born. This was our first product to market. Users can create an account with their medical device information (pacemaker, hip, knee, breast implant), and we alert them directly should a recall occur.

With the COVID-19 pandemic hitting in 2020 and the vaccine that was rolled out, several of our implant users had asked if we could track the covid vaccine. With the help of our developer and our CIO, the product was developed in 6 weeks. We then went live nationwide at Covid 19 vaccine clinics for scheduling, administration, and follow-up visits. Our Covid 19 vaccine solutions quickly became an all-encompassing vaccination verification tool, VeriVax. TrackMy’s product, VeriVax, is a solution to easily manage vaccine compliance and report and reduce the administrative burden for employee and non-employee populations. Each feature of our technology and services, provide a unique return on investment for both the employer and the employees.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To me, anything worth it will always have peaks and valleys. I have had to learn how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Starting a company while raising a family isn’t easy. We have three children and have added two since becoming business owners. Walking away from a mature corporation with financial security isn’t easy. My husband and I have learned to be a team in business and at home with the division of responsibilities. With our business, we have had to pivot and change directions based on what our ongoing clients need. We have a business that impacts meeting regulatory compliance, which also shifts from time to time due to changes in legislation. Our dynamic team has continued to innovate and deliver solutions to meet and exceed our client’s needs.

What’s next?
I’m excited to watch TrackMy continue to grow and impact lives while improving processes for our clients. Based on user feedback, we have a consumer model where parents and caregivers can quickly access health data for their children or loved ones efficiently and painlessly using our technology. Making it easier to access health data, like immunizations, and having a recommended immunization schedule and reminders will increase public health and safety nationwide. Having timely access to updated immunization data also allows us as parents to submit the required proof of vaccination for children for schools, to get into summer camps, to enroll in college, etc. – TrackMy is and will continue to be a game-changer in this space.
