Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget Politte.
Hi Bridget, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey as an Esthetician began back in 2016, as a new graduate I knew the traditional college route wasn’t for me. I had always dreamed of doing something full of creativity, and had developed a huge interest in skincare and special effects makeup by the end of high school. I took that passion and some advice from my older sister who had just completed cosmetology school, and enrolled myself in Esthetics School. I became Licensed in 2017, and worked at a few salons and spas in the Kansas City area, where I gained experience and training from some of the best Estheticians in the city. After the spa I was working at closed its doors for business after more than 40 years, I decided to open Afterglow Skin KC in march of 2025. At Afterglow Skin KC my goal is to provide result driven services, with the clients safety and experience as the top priority.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In my overall career being an Esthetician, I have definitely hit some bumps along the way. If I’m being completely honest, this year has really been about overcoming challenges. At the beginning of this year I was faced with deciding which way to pivot my career, as the current spa I was at was closing. Opening my own business has always been a dream of mine, but this really was the catalyst to me taking the jump in Entrepreneurship. So with only 6 weeks, I made all the meetings, did all the paper work, attained licensures needed, got my suite at Elevate Salon Studios client ready, and before I knew it, Afterglow Skin KC was open! This year has been full of struggle, but has also been full of opportunity and growth, and I am so grateful for it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Afterglow Skin KC has been in business since march of this year and although we have grown so much in that time, there is still so much more room to grow. In the treatment room I carry mostly European product lines imported from Germany and Italy and I pride myself in knowing I offer clean, safe, science backed product. At Afterglow Skin KC, my main goal is to help people feel good and provide a great experience. I really value open communication and being on the same page as my clients. This helps us with setting goals and achieving the desired results. I specialize in brows, brazilian waxing, customized facials, dermaplane and lash lift and tinting. My clients love that they can book out an afternoon and get a variation of different services done in one appointment, at one place, saving them time and hassle.
What matters most to you? Why?
To me, happiness is what matters the most. This life is so short, why waste it doing something that doesn’t make you happy?
Everyone measures happiness differently, but my happiness has always been my family, my friends, my pets, a good book, music, and loving what I do.
