Hi Austin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up around construction, I was always passionate about learning how things were built or made. As a kid, I would watch people work for hours. It was exciting to me that someone could be so talented and artistic. As I grew up, I knew the remodeling industry was where I wanted to start my career; I focused on that through school and afterward. 19 years later, I have stayed in the industry with no plans to change.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is anything ever really smooth? In the early days, the challenge of a 20-something “kid” telling grown adults how to do a job or what the next steps should be was always a huge challenge, rightfully so at the time. After a few years, the respect was earned by showing people that we knew how to run a job and would never shy away from doing a task if it was for the better of a project. I have never asked someone to do a job that I wouldn’t do. The past few years have been a roller coaster for many, including us. The labor force has shrunk, yet the demand has grown. Our best defense for that has been to set the expectation early, and often, you can mitigate 90% of problems by communicating the issue and the solution. If you are going to need to catch up on starting a project or delivering a finished project, you can explain why and do your best to be on time. Clear communication has been a huge part of our success.

MSC Enterprises, Inc. is a second-generation, family-owned remodeling company that serves the greater KC metro. We have focused on high-end residential remodels for all 23 years and will continue to do so. The company draws from its deep roots in the construction industry and understands what drives a client by staying ahead of decisions and questions. Our level of communication and enjoyment for the process brings people back over and over again.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Many answers can apply here, but the simplest one is being consistent. We are structured in ways that deliver a consistent product and process time and time again. This is done using great communication, deep organization, and relying on our team to excel at their perspective roles. We are open with clients regarding what things cost and why; we want them to understand where the money is going and how we can adjust that if needed to fit their budget.
