Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Laundry Matters in 2020 after realizing there was a real need for convenient laundry services in our community. I had several friends and families who were constantly struggling to keep up with their laundry or simply didn’t want to spend their time doing it, and I thought, “Why not turn that need into a business?” I started completely on my own, spending countless hours at the local laundromat while also doing laundry at my house to keep up with orders. What started as a small idea and a lot of hard work has grown into a business with six employees and a wonderful community of customers. It has been a long, sometimes challenging, but incredibly rewarding journey, and I’m so proud of how far Laundry Matters has come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No business is ever a completely smooth road, and Laundry Matters has definitely had its challenges along the way. In the beginning, one of our biggest struggles was getting our name out there, figuring out the right processes, and earning people’s trust to care for something as personal as their laundry. There was a lot of trial and error, learning as we went, and putting in countless hours to build the business. Over time, we’ve been able to establish those processes, build strong relationships with our customers, and create a team we’re proud of. While things have become much smoother, we’re always looking for ways to improve, grow, and better serve our customers and our community.
We’ve been impressed with Laundry Matters , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Laundry Matters is a locally owned and operated pick-up and delivery laundry service serving the Kansas City metro area. We specialize in taking one of life’s most time consuming chores laundry and making it simple, convenient, and stress-free for our customers. We offer residential and commercial laundry services, including wash, dry, fold, and hang services when requested, with convenient pickup and delivery and turnaround times typically within 24–48 hours.
What started as a small business has grown into a company we are incredibly proud of We have been serving our community for nearly seven years, and along the way we have learned that Laundry Matters is about so much more than washing clothes. It’s about giving people their time back. Our customers are busy families, working professionals, parents, seniors, businesses, Airbnb and VRBO hosts, fitness centers, and other organizations that rely on us to keep their laundry moving.
We are known for being dependable, convenient, and personal. Our customers trust us with something very personal—their belongings—and earning that trust has always been one of our biggest priorities. We take pride in treating every bag of laundry as if it were our own and in providing consistent, quality service from pickup to delivery.
We also offer commercial laundry solutions for businesses that need help with work clothes, linens, towels, tablecloths, and other recurring laundry needs. We have worked to create flexible solutions for businesses of different sizes rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. . Whether it’s a busy family needing weekly laundry service or a business needing regular commercial laundry, our goal is to make their lives easier.
One of the things that sets Laundry Matters apart is the personal connection we have with our customers. We aren’t just a large, impersonal laundry company. We are a local business that knows our customers, understands the communities we serve, and genuinely cares about the people who trust us with their laundry. We have built our business through relationships, word of mouth, reliability, and showing up for our customers
