Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Batty.
Hi Amy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I opened breathe yoga KC approximately 5years ago. The first four years were very challenging but the 5th year is when COVID-19 shut us down. We remained closed for six months. During this closure, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Due to my course of treatments (surgery to remove the tumor, followed by radiation) I was unsure about whether we would be able to re-open breathe. I was certainly in a vulnerable state and could not be in the studio. I reached out to Sue Park to see if she would be willing to collaborate and run my studio while I was healing. She agreed to give it go.
I am so grateful for the local KC yoga community. We support each other and help each other, both in times of need and also in good times too. It is so important to lift each other up and provide vibrant collaborative energy to our studios and to the entire KC community as a whole. We are all in this together. All of that good energy that you put out there has a way of making its way back around to you in times of need. Thank you to the entire KC yoga community for supporting me and my efforts to keep breathe a vibrant, collaborative part of the KC yoga community.
We’ve been impressed with Breathe Yoga KC Holistic Healing Studio, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
All forms of traditional yoga- Ashtanga, vinyasa flow, yoga basics, yin yoga, gentle (chair)yoga, restorative yoga.
We also offer private yoga sessions as well as private Accupressure treatments. Accupressure is similar to accupuncturre (but without the needles). Over 104 Pressure points on the body are stimulated, releasing and re-setting the energy centers of each particular point. It is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy, proven as a natural way to heal the body of ailments, tension, stress, insomnia and anxiety.
We also sell DoTerra essential oils and yoga items in our lobby.
Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to being able to refocus on travel. Prior to Covid-19, we were planning to travel to Belize for an all-inclusive yoga retreat.
Retreats offer clients the opportunity to travel with their familiar yoga teachers to fantastic destinations and experience outdoor yoga in a unique setting away from the pressures of our daily lives. An opportunity to disconnect from work, etc. as a way to reconnect with ourselves. The ultimate opportunity to focus on self-care.
