Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Sitzman.
Hi Amanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Sanctuary was birthed at the intersection of frustration and passion. Frustrated feeling as if I was wasting my talents and abilities for a big corporation instead of building something for my family and my community and passionate about all things home. The realization of these two emotions and that root cause and drive for more than the typical workday brought me to the launch of this business. When I first started out, I had a brand and a purpose in mind before I ever opened my first book to study for my Real Estate exam. While it was Real Estate that was of interest to me, my main focus was more on “Sanctuary” as a brand and feeling it would bring to the community, and how it could become a light, a safe place, a sanctuary to those who were connected to it. Now we are helping our clients all across Kansas City to buy, sell, invest, and design their very own “Sanctuary” and continuing to keep our focus on being that light and safe space for our clients and friends.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Trials, failures, adjustments, and victories are the building blocks of our business. Starting out of course everything was fun and exciting, while simultaneously frustrating and unknown; as we navigated that learning curve. While I had studied entrepreneurship for many years, and even owned my own online business before starting Sanctuary, there is no “easy” button in Real Estate or any small business for that matter. We have been blessed over the years to have the ability to keep our main focus on being a referral-based business. This allows us to keep clients the heart of our work over numbers, and that foundation has kept our business growing and flourishing.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sanctuary is a Real Estate company. We serve our community and clients through not only being the experts in Real Estate buying, selling, and investing, but we also have experts on our team in design, interior decorating, Airbnb management, and wealth building through Real Estate. We have partnerships with other small businesses in our community that can help with credit repair, lending services, general contracting for home renovations, and many more services that help our clients and friends reach their Real Estate goals. We believe our client-focused marketing is what sets us apart from others in our industry. We would rather spend our time and money investing into our clients rather than 3rd party lead sources. This helps us create genuine and immediate connections to our clients based on trust.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Covid-19 has been full of lessons and opportunities. When we took a step back, as many businesses and families had to do during the height of Covid-19, we really examined the way this affected our business and how we needed to adapt. For us, it was a blessing that we learned how to adapt to the time we were in and just embrace that, as Real Estate and the market are ever-changing. Adaptability is now a huge asset that we have added to our business and we are ultimately grateful for that opportunity to not become stagnant create a habit of doing things the way they have always been done. This has unleashed a creative side in us all that has only benefited our brand.
